In my opinion, some of the best editorial features in design mags are the ones that pop with color! I love skimming through a magazine at a bookstore & being taken aback by all the vivid colors of the interiors.
Here's a perfect example of what I mean, so eye-catching, don't you think?
I'm drawn to color too! But I find myself constantly vacillating between a neutral palette (charcoal, dove grey, white, black, chocolate) and a color-filled one. Hate to be cliche - sometimes I'm afraid to "commit" with color.
I'll be honest, I love color, but sometimes i'm afraid to use it. What if I overdo it? What if the colors I love don't match? I'm trying to get out of that though, because there is nothing more boring (in my honest opinon) than a beige or white apartment.
I absolutely love this! It's so happy and quirky and also not over done. I think having so much colour is a potential disaster but this really works :)
VMICHELLE: Tons of people do the same thing, no worries. I used to do that at one point in my life....one day I decided to just try a color in my spare bedroom...I figured it was a safe place to start. I used RED on ONLY one wall (that's what we do when we are scared to totally commit) and it wasn't that bad. I think now, looking back, that particular red was tooo RED though. But REMEMBER, it's just color, and we can paint right over it if we don't like it.
LINDSEY LOU: You bring up a great point. Alot of people are afraid to place color in their homes (on walls etc) because they're afraid the colors they chose won't look right. Sometimes they just don't trust themselves to choose the right color that will look good together. I admit, it can be very challenging standing at Home Depot & trying to decide what an entire wall in YOUR home will look like based on a tiny swatch!!!
I say just go with your instincts and start with the smallest wall in an area.....maybe not even a full gallon of paint, so you won't feel like you are totally committing. One small wall is easier to paint over then an entire room if you don't like it.
Absolutely.....i think the same thing, the magazines make it look so easy to have beautiful pops of color against white walls...its delicious! I have tried to recreate the look but wall colors always work best for me... i love the color in the very last photo, and the patterns in the fabrics. I also think the art above the setee is BANANAS....
