My Home in Progress...

So far, I've added some new art over my new dining room table. I'd like to add more down below and obviously in the EMPTY frame. In the meanwhile, I'll be searching for more art... Currently three of the pieces on this wall are from my MadeByGirl Etsy shop. Any suggestions? Any other items I could add? Below is my sofa, (which I moved from my main living room into my family room). I got the two colorful cushions from Pier 1 Import, can you believe that?? They remind me of some of these Anthropologie cushions I wanted, but didn't want to spend $100 for! These were reasonable at $30-$40 each. I will keep updating & posting as I move along.

  6. APT #34- I found the dining table at a consignment shop here in Vegas...and the sofa I found at a furniture store, here as well. The sofa is about 3 or 4 years old I think..but I had it covered up so it looks new!!

  9. Hello Jennifer! Love your blog and your artwork!

I wonder what your dining room art display would look like if arranged in Liza Giles-cluster-style. Check out this gorgeous photo from Elle Decoration (via Decor8).

  28. Hi Jennifer,

Love what you did with your wall. since you asked for some suggestions, I have one. I think it's not a bad idea to consider living the empty frame as is and just add a small sculpture in the middle of it. I think it would add something unexpected to your already beautiful display.

I also could use some suggestions on my new bathroom decor I posted today in my blog.

  29. Everything looks fantastic... great eye on finding all the art, pillows, etc + making it work in your space. I think I want my home to look just like yours!

  33. I don't know if it bothers you, but to me that vent up near the ceiling reads as part of the composition and makes it look odd. Maybe that's just me :) If it were me, I would play with either adding one or two more small frames near the ceiling above the main group or adding one at a slightly bigger distance from the group in the lower left. That would help to incorporate (by adding above) or to counterbalance (by adding to the other side) the vent.

Or if you want to leave the grouping alone, the vent would blend in more if you painted it the same color as the wall.

  40. Paisley PEACOCK:

That sounds like a cute idea...I heard a couple other suggestions as well..Will try and see what looks best. I have monogrammed letters arriving soon that spell love - will be placing them on my mantle. :)

  41. JULIE:
Hmmm a sculpture, I never thought of that. I wouldn't know how it would stay up there...u?

    ReplyDelete
  42. GINA: Believe it or not, Most of those frames are bought at WALMART. I figured buying a ton of frames will drain your pockets...so the best thing to do is buy them inexpensive and paint them. I pick out the most ornate looking frames I find...Oh and I bout some at Michael's craft store as well...I think about 4 of them are from Michael's.

  43. JUNE:
Haha I knew someone would mention the VENT.... YES, if course it bothers me. When I get around to it, I'll see if I can manage to find the paint for this wall. Its the paint that came with the home when I bought it....so it may be tough to get the exact color. For now, the vent is in the way...but I will add more frames around it to balance things out. You're right. :) Thanks!

  44. TERRI, the cushions are from Pier 1 Imports...and from an Etsy shop called Feed The Dog- out of Australia.

  45. Hi Jennifer,

I mean a small sculpture that you could hand on a nail or even a small mirror would do it.

  46. uuuu, those colorful pillows are fabulous! i love them. that's pretty great you got such a deal on them. i definitely would have thought they were from anthro. it's all coming together great. good job!

  48. Oh, of course it's always the paint you didn't buy that you need to match...I've been there. How about putting a frame around the vent? That would BLOW MY MIND. :)

  61. Hello Naomi,
I bought this table at a consignment shop near my home here in Nevada. They have a ton of cool items....and they sell them for much cheaper than reg. furniture shops. PLUS you can negotiate on the price a bit.... : )
