Fashion: New Year's Eve Dresses

Hi everyone, Jocelyn here. It's time to get into the  party spirit. I'm sure many of you are filling your social calendars with new year's eve parties which means it's time to strut those fancy dresses.

Sequins, metallics, and bright colors are always at the top of my list. I put together a few options that would look amazing into the late hours of the night. I'm personally in love with that second dress. What are you planning on wearing for New Year's?

Fashion: Room inspires outfit

Hi everyone! Jocelyn here bringing you another outfit inspired by a beautiful room featuring Jen's artwork. Today's lovely room was featured in Matchbook Magazine a few months ago and belongs to Caitlin Wilson. It's such a fun eclectic wall with feminine appeal that I was immediately drawn to it!

That wall color works just as perfect as the backdrop for the picture frames in the room as it does as a pair of colored denim pants for the outfit. I'd say I hit the lotto with that ampersand sweater find. It is such a good representation of that amazing graphic.

A few bright bangles and gold and white accents pulls the overall look together. Thanks for the inspiration Caitlin!

I bet this would make a fantastic Holiday party outfit as well! Don't you think?

Fashion: that gives

Hey guys, Jocelyn here. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I've started thinking about the things I'm thankful for and looking for ways to give back to those less fortunate.

So I thought, why not combine a love for fashion with helping others by purchasing products from brands that donate to charity. Here are a few brands that are carrying out good deeds...

Kayu - (clutch) For ever clutch sale, Kayu donates $15 to purchase a backpack and school supplies for a child in need.

Lemlem - (shirt) Lemlem provides jobs to weavers in Ethiopia and strengthens the economic independence of the country as a whole.

Rachel Roy - (earrings) Proceeds from the sale of these earrings benefit victims of 2010's devastating earthquake in Haiti.

Warby Parker - (sunglasses) For every pair of glasses they sell, they provide a pair to someone in need. Plus, they let you order up to five pairs of glasses to try on at home for a week. Once you decide on the one you like, send the other pairs back for free!

Toms - (shoes) I'm sure you've heard of them. For every pair of shoes they sell, they give a pair to someone in need.

Feed - (tote & scarf) For every Feed product sold, a specific amount of money gets donated to hunger-relief efforts, depending on the cost of the product. The tote and the scarf featured here each  provide 10 school meals to children.

Hope  you all enjoy a happy Thanksgiving with loved ones and take a quick minute to reflect on the positive things in life that make it all worth while. I'd like to share that I'm thankful to Jen for allowing me to post on her lovely blog and I'm thankful to all of you for all your kind words and for continuing to read my posts. It's beyond humbling.

Happy shopping!

Fashion: Bring Out the Coats

Hi guys, it's Jocelyn. The weather is cooling down and the days are getting shorter. This means it's time to bring out the coats. I definitely feel that this is one piece in a wardrobe that is worth splurging on. A great coat should be able to stand as an outfit on its own because it's really all you see when you wear it.

I also look for ones that are versatile and can transition from day to night, that way you get the most out of your purchase. I personally go for simple and classic silhouettes.

What you guys think? Is it worth the investment?

Fashion: The Wool Trouser

Hi guys! Jocelyn here. I'm sure many of you have already prepared your wardrobe for fall. I definitely have. San Francisco pretty much has fall weather year round so I am no stranger to layering, light jackets, and knitted fabrics.

One fashion essential that I'll be splurging on this season is a sleek wool trouser. It's nice to mix things up and give denim a break every once in a while. A jewel tone or warm shade looks chic and sophisticated without looking too business-y.

Here is a look at two ways to dress up a pair. I love the classic feel of the first outfit and the playfulness of the second. Do you guys have a favorite? How would you wear it?

Fashion: Burgundy

Hey guys! Jocelyn here. Fall is officially upon us and I have been having fun putting my wardrobe together. I've noticed that Burgundy is definitely the it color of the season and can't get enough of it. It's been everywhere it seems. I actually tend to come back to this color year after year. It's a great alternative to a neutral and compliments all skin tones.

Check out some of my favorite Burgundy finds. Hope you guys have as much fun shopping as I did putting this together.

Fashion: Little Details

Hey guys, it's Jocelyn! With Fashion Week in full swing right now - I thought it was appropriate to bring you some fashion details! So, here's another dose of style inspiration. Let's talk details shall we. Whenever I shop, I look for items that have some sort of unique element to them. Details are attention grabbing and make an outfit that much more special.

I try to pick one detailed item that stands amazing on its own and pair it with classic basics. This creates a focal point for an outfit and leaves a lasting impression. Think of them as sprinkles on your ice cream, pretty to look at and so much better than the ordinary. Detailed collars, graphic seams, scalloped edges or embellished accessories can all add the perfect amount of allure to any outfit.

What type of details are you guys drawn to?

Happy Shopping!

Fashion: Pops of Color

Hey guys! I'm Jocelyn from The Stylish Type. I'm so excited about joining Made By Girl and getting the chance to bring you a little dose of style inspiration for the day. As an introduction, I wanted to share with you my absolute most favorite thing to incorporate into outfits...a pop of color!

Color can make such a statement and is one of my favorite ways to dress up an outfit. Mix and match them for a color blocking effect or add one bright piece to a neutral all black or white outfit for major impact. Here's a look at a few colorful must-haves currently on my wishlist.

I love the blazer and the pants and would actually probably wear them together with a white t-shirt and nude pumps.

How do you guys wear color?

Hope you enjoyed the post, looking forward to getting to know all of you.
