Hello Again, it's me.

Hello everyone!

I remember when I first started this blog and how exciting and new it all was. This is the first time since I started blogging that I haven't written much. But that's ok.  Life threw a few curve balls - as some of you may know I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer back in February (2017) & my life has gone through some major changes. Not only did my diet completely change but the food that feeds my soul needed more attention & so I went ahead & tended to it. I had surgery to remove the cancer & thank the Lord I am doing well. It is a day to day thing ....sometimes fearing the unknown and whenever I get a strange pain I think "What if?"  But I know I need to always remind myself of the blessings that God has already given me & that is what keeps me moving forward.

As for blogging I'm not sure where it's headed or what direction I will take. But what I do know is that I've learned to be more present in my life. That social media along with blogging takes away from the beauty of 'real life'  - as difficult as it may seem sometimes.

So with all that said, thank you for visiting once again & stay tuned photos of my newly decorated apartment!

Cupcakes Cups

Hey guys!

When you're looking for a clever way to brighten up a party, consider baking cupcakes & placing them into bright & colorful cupcake cups.  My husband & I made these yesterday for Valentine's Day - even though it was for a party of 3 (hubby, me & our son) I thought it might be fun to try this together! We purchased a fun cupcake cup pack with decorative hearts from Eli's Market here in NYC.  Eli's Market is a great place to get fun & unique sweets for entertaining or just to eat at home!

How cute are these?

Hope you enjoyed your Valentine's Day yesterday!

Design: Throwback of My Apartment

Earlier this year, I was featured in a popular Decor magazine called Casa e Jardim from Brazil.

I don't believe I ever shared all these photos on my blog....so I wanted to post them today.  The photos were shot earlier this year when Noah was much younger & wasn't standing or walking yet...hence, why the coffee table is styled so nicely in the pic below! Ha! These days, the apartment is not as nicely decorated because having a toddler changes everything! Simple things like a glass vase are now considered "armed & dangerous." haha

This apartment holds so many memories but one of my favorites was decorating it.  I hope my home decor will inspire you! Please feel free to pin these pics!

DESIGNER: KELLY BEHUN

Kelly Behun was featured in Elle Decor a couple days ago as designer for a gorgeous Park Avenue home - and boy was it beautiful! I'm only showing you one photo of that gorgeous space, the rest is on Elle Decor. However here is some of her other work which is amazing too. Kelly's studio is based out of NYC & they also design funky pieces of furniture.

Interesting enough she graduated from university with a Bachelor of Science in Economics - she is now a highly sought after designer. Kelly's design work has been published in numerous magazines including Elle Decor, New York Magazine (cover story of annual design issue), House Beautiful, House and Garden & more! She's designed many homes including Ivanka Trump's NYC apartment.

Feel free to view her portfolio here.

Have a great weekend!

Our NYC Apt. Photos

Being featured in Style at Home's special issue called 'Designer Secrets' was so awesome. The main reason is because it was the first time my paintings were featured in print! I was also featured in Adore magazine earlier this year in which Taleen Dersdepanian shot for, and also Better Homes & Gardens Magazine! I couldn't be more grateful.

Here are a few shots from a variety of the issues that may or may not have been shown - hope you enjoy them and please pin them but link back to my blog please.

REAL LIFE: Bonding with Noah

Hello everyone, hope you had a great weekend!

I used to wonder what it was like being around other moms in baby classes..... today I got to experience that.  It was such a joy being there with my little guy & bonding with him.  He was quiet at first, looking around, then slowly opening up & starting to smile.

It's cool to see the other kids & their personalities...then compare them with your own.  As we were 15 min into the class, he spit up 3 times onto his socks, & a little on his pants! That is why he's wearing a bib in every photo!  Ha.  - Then he farted & I thought "yikes, did he just poop?"  - luckily no! All in all, it was REALLY sweet watching him smile up at me while I blew bubbles & clapped my hands... It was also cute seeing him stare in awe at the other children.

The classes are held at the Y, & they have many to choose from depending on your baby's age. I definitely recommend the 'babies together' classes!

Stokke Baby

Have you checked out my instagram lately?

I posted about this super cool baby carrier by StokkeBaby.  Love it. Of course, I chose the all-black one for Noah, and he seems pretty comfy in it. It does have a lot  of straps, but I suppose that's a good thing to keep the baby secure and snug right?

It supports the baby and my back doesn't feel like it's giving out either. This carrier is hip & of course functional - I  recommend it. You can buy the same one here.

Check out a few more shots on my instagram.

The Madewell event this past weekend went really well! - I loved meeting new people & seeing lots of you who I know just from my Instagram! My artwork was a hit & one of the favorite were the colorful pineapples!  It was such a fantastic experience doing this pop-up shop & was definitely cool walking in & seeing my art displayed in their store!

The collection on display included art from my Made By Girl shop & original paintings from my online gallery, Cocoa & Hearts.

If you have a store & are interested in having me do a similar pop-up shop there, feel free to email me with info!

My husband below (to the right) busy putting in orders & making sure things are run smoothly. His tee shirt even said 'hubby' - such a cutie.

My Go-To HAIRDRYER: Julien Farel

During our weekend stay-cation at the Loews Regency this past August - I got to try out the Julien Farel hair care products & best of all the Julien Farel hair dryer. Who knew?!

When I pulled the dryer out of the cute little bag & turned it on, the airflow was smooth & quiet. Felt fantastic over my head & scalp.  I was so impressed by how quickly it dried my hair and how smooth it felt,  I wanted to take it home with me.  Of course, that would be stealing, and I'm no thief.
So, the people at Julien Farel gifted one to me, awesome.... & here is the result I captured with my iPhone pic. This is now, my go-to hair dryer.  It retails in his salon for $90 - not bad huh?  Totally worth it! You can call to purchase or just walk in & buy one!  (address below)

It's so important to have a good dryer, along with some great hair products. If you have a cheapo hair dryer, like I used to have....a few things can happen like:

  • They can burn your hair because they pack a lot of heat.
  • It can take a lot longer to dry the hair - in turn, burning & damaging it.
  • I also had an issue with my old dryer, where my hair would get snagged in the fan piece on the end, that was painful.

When you're shopping for a hair-dryer, consider these things:
  • choose a dryer that has a variety of temps (cool, warm, hot)
  • Quiet dryers are just that, quieter. I always prefer a more quiet hair dryer, that's why this one is perfect.
  • choose one that has a concentrator to direct the air to where you need it most.

You can easily spend anywhere between $80-$200 on a "worthwhile" professional hairdryer these days, and I def say you should!

Natori Event NYC

Last week, I hosted a private shopping event at Natori - where Josie Natori showed up with this amazing outfit from her collection and mingled with guests! I got a chance to show guests my favorite Fall picks & even wore my main pick (see below) to the event! Her line is beautiful, feminine & sophisticated......I'm really looking forward to wearing my Panno Wool Vest again soon!

On that note, I wanted to give you a bit more insight on who Josie is....in case you haven't heard of this fabulous entrepreneur.

Natori was Started in 1977 by Josie Natori, it sells lingerie, sleepwear, dresses and other women's fashion as well as perfume, home furnishings and more in over 15 countries. What's more amazing is the story of Josie Natori, who was the first female to reach the rank of Vice President in the tough investment banking world - she left high finance & went into high-fashion after following her dream of becoming an entrepreneur.

The boutique is located in the Nolita section of Manhattan....and it's a gorgeous space - you won't want to miss visiting her shop! (See full address in photo collage below).

All my picks can be seen in person at the boutique in NYC.
You can keep up with Natori on their website or their blog, Josie Girl.
