Sixx Design.....thanks for the book!

Yesterday was such a cool mailbox day! Thanks to Cristina for sending 'Downtown Chic' my way! This book is great! It's about a couple with 6 kids, who run a design firm called' Sixx Design'. They began their work more than 10 years ago by renovating old fixer-uppers in New York City (mainly Chelsea area). They had no idea this would lead to their extremely successful business, Sixx Design. I adore their style & their affinity to find amazing pieces of artwork. I highly recommend their book, 'Downtown Chic, if you love interiors & design as much as I do!

Here's a great video on the couple explaining how they buy art.

Apple & Eve....

Apple & Eve makes all these gorgeous little cotton & linen animals. All handmade and finished off with colorful embroidery. These would make great gifts for children or even for your own decor. I can see one in my guest bedroom on the bed next to all my cushions! If you haven't been to Apple & Eve's shop, check it out here.

This is what it means to care....

This is what it means to care..... (non-design related).

Audrey & Eldad Hagar never imagined that when they began photographing the hundreds of fostered dogs (and other creatures) who came through their home, that they would actually create a book. They just wanted to remember the animals they had shared great memories with.

Below is their short story about a little dog named Bradley...

"We rescued Bradley from the shelter last night, and today I took him to a neurologist.

The doctor had only sad news for Bradley...

We agreed he should go to sleep and not suffer this severe hydrocephalus. (as you can see, his head is weirdly shaped due to a lot of fluids in his head / brain).

I didn't want to let him go yet, so from the vet I took Bradley to the beach, I sat with him, played with him, and I fed him many cheeseburgers and fried chicken.

We sat there for two hours, and after that I took him to the vet's office right on the beach, and he went to sleep forever :-(

It was such a sad day... I cried like a baby for this little guy. Even now when I am typing these words, tears are coming to my eyes..." (The end)

Please visit their website & help them save more animals. All they ask is for people to buy the book about their rescue work... this will help them pay the medical bills & all the expenses involved in animal rescuing. (The book cost only $9.95. It has a 100 pages of full color photos and stories that will make you laugh and cry).

* You can buy the book at Hope For Paws.*

After reading this, I bought this book today & I'm so grateful to be part of the effort to help these animals.

315 Thomas - Colorful Home Tour....

Lesley from 315 Thomas blog sent over these cool images of her lovely apartment. I really enjoyed her sense of style & her courage in using so much color. She's a lot like me in that sense...not afraid of color.

I also have to mention that Lesley & her guy have rented a beautiful studio apartment in Paris, for 12 days in September! I'm sooo jealous because this is something I want to do so bad! Can i get away with GETTING AWAY for 12 days??? Oh, hopefully one day. You can see her Paris rental here. Thanks Lesley!

Inside Design- Gorgeous Advertising Firm!

I found this super chic (yet simple) Ad office via The Deco Detective. I haven't been able to take it off my mind all morning! Inside Design is Karen Sullivan's interior design biz....can you see why I love it to much?? Karen writes on her site "the process I went through to get here was the inspiration for choosing INSIDE as a company name. It’s more than a reference to decorating - I chose INSIDE because what I finally embraced was truly inside me all along." Love that, enjoy!

She's here....my iMac

So here is my new all-in-one 24" iMac I purchased this week. This thing is like a monster, but a good one! Crisp monitor.....I swear even my crappiest photos look great! I pointed out a few things I'd like to do on my desk still...the work must go on. (Click on 2nd photo to see larger)

I'm thinking about getting one of these lovely corkboard mousepads for my desk area. Hmm blue or pink?

Sorry I haven't posted that much, oddly enough my internet connection has been up & down again! Connection finally up now!

My boxer is getting around....

Thanks to artist, Nicole Smith of A Plush Life for painting this cool portrait of my boxer, Danny. I'd say she captured the likeness quite nicely! The original is painted on a 16" x 20" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas. She's donated the painting to the Florida Boxer Rescue's show, The Art of Rescue. Her 16x20 piece will be on display at the The Art Institute of Tampa Gallery from June 1 through June 13, 2009. This one below is just a print out that will hang in my kitchen. Thanks Nicole!

So gorgeous, in it's inviting European cafe' style setting, offering up YUMMY Patisserie like delicious scones, muffins, cookies, pastries & desserts. This is my kind of place to go to on a Sunday afternoon. Or any day for that matter! Check out their delicious website here.
