As you see below, I've been working on the main guest bedroom & ever since I wrote about Michelle's bedroom from Rubie Green - I wanted a brighter & sunnier-looking room for my guests! I bought the headboard fabric & my guy helped to upholster it. We painted the walls a bright white by Behr to bring in more light) & it worked! I chose this little side table with mirrored glass & still haven't fully decided what to place on it yet. One thing I am struggling with is what artwork to place (if at all) over the headboard....hmmm. I was thinking of a variety of small frames in clusters, like 5-7 of them. Any ideas?? In the meanwhile - have a HAPPY 4TH of July weekend!

looks great! how about a mirror over the bed? I have one over mine and it looks groovy!
ReplyDeletemine is very baroque and painted the color of the walls...
Loving the yellow! happy holiday to you and yours too!!
Very nice!
ReplyDeleteI've neglected the guest bedroom because it's also looked at as the spare room, but it will finally have a guest in it next month. Yours looks beautiful. I really need to get to work on mine
ReplyDeleteThis is so happy and sunny! Your guests are going to feel so pampered staying there! :)
ReplyDeleteI am in love with those fabrics, and that mirrored table !
ReplyDeleteThe bedroom looks great!
ReplyDeleteAs for suggestions above the bed, with your side table being mirror glass, having a cluster of different size mirrors in white frames or no frames might work.
Love your blog very inspiring
ReplyDeleteNice work! The room looks so refreshing, feels so welcoming.
ReplyDeleteAn idea for artwork is to put a mix of frames with no pictures, like the one you purchased for your portrait illustration couple of weeks ago. Another idea is to paint some portraits, you have a wicked style! Or hang the portraits along with some empty frames.
Jen! You've outdone yourself. This room is stunning. Your guests will feel so spoilt.
ReplyDeleteI do need to have a word with you... You've single handedly made me obsessed with yellow.
Oh boy!
Love your new look!! So bright and fresh!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so nice! The headboard turned out awesome!
ReplyDeleteJennifer, it looks so pretty and light! Wonderful job, and great inspiration. Love Rubie Green. Where did you find your linens? The yellow trellis is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI like the before AND the after. Great job on both counts.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you need to have anything over the bed but if you want something, a asymetrical collection of mirrors would be lovely.
It's beautiful! Love the yellow, very refreshing.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Love that headboard. I think I would add a mirror with the same finish as the lamp. Great job!
ReplyDeleteOh my what a transformation. White walls are the best and I really love that yellow!
ReplyDeleteIt's looking fantastic and the white has really made it light. I think some small pieces of art would look great above the headboard or what about one of your paintings?
ReplyDeletethe bed looks much happier with that pattern and the yellow! the lighter wall is great too! love the changes=)
ReplyDeleteI just love it, so soothing, but still fun.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow...I love it. Those yellow pillow shams and the duvet are so cool. I love every last bit of it.
ReplyDeleteI love it..I have been looking for a typewriter like that myself..great work Jen and "Jens Guy".
ReplyDeleteLooks so fresh! Reminds me of spring time with the first streaks of sunshine :) What kind of headboard was that to begin with? DIY aswell? Would be great to see a demo on here of projects.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a lovely weekend

I love your headboard here... So inspiring. THe choice of colour here is always divine!
ReplyDeletesuper inviting, your guests may not leave!
ReplyDeletelove that little side table & the headboard looks fab!
I love the yellow!!! What a great retreat!
ReplyDeletei love this room! great job so far :) let's see, i think you should do some sort of cool round mirror above the bed...i think a mirror would keep the space open and bright, instead of lots of small frames, which might take away from the cool headboard fabric!
ReplyDeleteALOT OF you have mentioned mirrors or a large mirror over the bed. I like the idea....but am more inclined to place smaller frames. Sometimes i feel hesitant placing a large mirror over someone's head....make sense? ha!
ReplyDeleteI am still deciding though...
Thanks!
LOVE everything about it! the yellow is so fun!
ReplyDeleteI just love it! I am really crazy about white walls, and yellow is such a pleasant and happy color!
ReplyDeleteoh it turned out so great!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, dear! you did a great job, it looks so sunny and cheerful :) I bet your guests will be happy to stay there :)
ReplyDeleteThose yellow cushions are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteoh! I am so excited to see the candle holders!! :)
ReplyDeleteyou are really inspiring, as I am often scared of yellow from some reason. I should take a leap.
Jennifer, you have, what we call here in Brazil "mãos de fada" or fairy hands. Both, before and after, are beautiful. kisses Lucila
ReplyDeleteWow! It is so pretty. You did a great job!
ReplyDeletelooks great!! I hope you have a fabulous day!! Huge hugs!! Britt :-)
ReplyDeleteI really like the white walls - so bright and airy... and I love your new pillow shams and blanket! Headboard looks fab too... what an undertaking!
ReplyDeleteIf you want more than one piece:
ReplyDelete1) a gilt mirror... or just some kind of mirror/s.
2) larger art work, light in palette. Lots of smaller pieces may end up, even if they're lighter, creating a darker feel. But, um... there's no WAY I qualify as a pro in this.
I like the yellow diamond pattern.
Where is that bedding from? I love it!
ReplyDeleteHey MANDY: The bedding is from HOME GOODS... :)
ReplyDeleteHow about a bed net? You could even build a valence type thing to go over the bed to hold the curtains/ gauzey material.
ReplyDeleteOne suggestion, how about a lamp shade like this: http://www.lampsplus.com/Products/Scallop-Bell-Creme-Lamp-Shade-10x16x15-Spider__05950.html
I think it would look a bit more updated.
I love the colors you've chosen, it looks good!
