Friday Morning At My Place....(Via Made By Girl)

It's Friday.....the CONTRACTORS ARE HERE & they're starting to tape things off in the kitchen as well as ALL the bathrooms. Looks like it'll be sanding today & spraying tomorrow morning! I'm really NOT looking forward to the sanding part! Hmmmm, I'm so STARVED right now, all the food is packed & nothing solid to eat!! Ugh.

My guy stayed home from work today (but he's still working from home) & I'm thinking I'm going to STEAL HIM away & go grab a bite outside! I'll be taking pics of the KITCHEN RENOVATION as we go along, so you'll get to see all the changes.....so exciting!!!!

In the meanwhile, here's a new PAINTING I did a few days ago. I was so INSPIRED after going to the Getty, I pulled out the paintbrush. As you can see it's pretty darn BIG!  I'm very much into WHITE these days, so this painting definitely brings a splash of COLOR & happiness to my home! The way I applied the paint reminds me of LIPSTICK

Anyway, I DO need to frame it STILL, any ideas what kind of frame??

  2. What a great painting. I love the simplicity of it. As for the frame, maybe do something simple so it doesn't take away from the artwork. (i.e. White or Silver)

  3. well if u ask me i think it looks awesome without the frame.. gorgeous work btw.. :)

  4. that is gorgeous. bravo!!

im not sure it needs a frame, but if you definitely want one, i'd stick to a thin (maybe 1-2in thick) floating frame in either silver or white. it would look something like this: http://www.greatbigcanvas.com/images-web/examples/silver-floating-frame-med.jpg

can't wait to see more of your place!

  6. I love it! You've inspired me to go home and paint one tonight. I was ready to go out and buy a huge mirror to fill up an open space in my place but I like this much better!! Thanks!

  11. It DOES remind me lipstick!! I like it. I didn't even pay much attention to the frame I just admired it. Hmmm I dunno I'm liking it frameless. That fainting couch is beautiful!!

Good luck with the kitchen make-over!!! =)

  12. wow, love it! You did a great job, love the simplicity, really beautiful. I agree with most, it looks great without the frame. First I thought of a thin black frame, but I guess most are right, silver or white would go very nice.

  13. I love it! as well as all the white in your home. I blogged about a similar concept. Check it out here http://yourcolorvision.wordpress.com/2010/11/22/diy-wall-panel-using-paint-chips/

have a great weekend! Can't wait to see the kitchen!

  14. oh and agree with the others who say leave unframed....

  15. I definitely don't think it needs a frame and I do love the idea of a simple silver frame, but I also love modern paintings paired with elaborate traditional thick gilt frames. I have always thought it made a cool contrast.

  16. LOVE it! No frame needed.

  17. I'm no artist, but I love it without a frame too!!! SO SO SO beautiful! Definitely reminds me of lipstick :)

  19. I love the painting just the way it is. No frame needed. Totally compliments every element of your space especially the daybed's shape and textures. You got great sense of style Jen! ;-)

  23. Looks great, Jen :) I'd never think to make such a fun, non-subjective piece myself, but YOU NAILED IT! I kind of like it without the frame...I love the crisp edges of a pulled canvas.

  24. Gorgeous work Jen! With most of my large paintings, I don't use a frame at all. If you want to anyway, I'd go for a white, silver or limewashed frame, with a nice thin profile. Love it! K x

  28. Wow! I like it as is! But perhaps a flat white frame, 1/4" wide on the face and as deep as the painting with a bit of a reveal between canvas and frame....but really..I like it the way it is! Brava!

  30. I'M DYING. It turned out so gorgeous! I think a frame would be awesome, but it really does look striking without one as well. Love it!

  31. so pretty & simple :)
i would leave it unframed - it looks like a gallery style canvas, which looks awesome as-is!

  32. Great painting. I was so drawn to the picture of the painting that I had to remind myself to actually read the post lol. I'm thinking a simple brush metal silver frame.

  33. I love this! I'm so inspired to do one myself now!!

And...I kind of like it without a frame? If you do get a frame, I would suggest a small, thinner black frame.

    ReplyDelete
  34. too funny! i was thinking that 'lipstick' before i read it - lol!!! have a great weekend! why frame it? looks fantastic as is!

  35. great piece of work. love the choices of color you've used. did you use acrylic paint? (have a great weekend).

  36. I feel like painting now!
I like unframed but if you really want a frame I like that greyish shade of the circle (top row-last).

  37. There is nothing better than getting out the paintbrush! I am inspired now to create some artwork for my house:) .
    Happy weekend!

  38. Wow, Jen! It's awesome. I kind of like it without the frame, but I'm sure it would look good with one as well. Maybe if you do a thinner width frame it wouldn't take away from the painting. I love it!

  41. black high gloss frame or champagney-gold!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Looks fabulous without a frame, but you could make your own frame just not sure what color

    ReplyDelete
  43. Looking great Jen! It does add a pop of fun energy to the space. I would go with something very thin, maybe floating frame and in either dark color or even silver or even gold (if you want more warmth and vintage feel)it will help to distinguish it but not take away(also depending what you will be doing with the rest of the space). Can't wait to see more.
    Have a great weekend!

  44. Love it Jen! looks great and I'm inclined to say don't even frame it, I like it that way! :))

  45. I love using floating frames on canvas. I have a couple of them in my dining room and love them. I purchase them at canvasplace.com

They are unfinished and a super great price. I think it would look fabulous in white lacquer.

    Love the print BTW

  46. NO frame necessary. I love the paint spots floating on the white... Beautiful!!!

  47. Such a great painting...I absolutely love it! Perhaps you can make smaller versions? Adding you to my blogroll right now.

  51. The painting is gorgeous! I would do a simple white frame either floating or flat. Have a great weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Ack, I love it! And I actually like it without a frame, or maybe with mitered molding nailed flat on the outside edges (not the front) for a really clean look.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Oh, NO frame!!! I love it just floating on the wall how it is now!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I think a big gold frame would be cool. Something very ornate. On the other hand, your white approach is also very cool. The big gold frame would be a different style, so as to wether or not you should frame it depends on the style, right? But if you are going to frame, go BIG or not at all! Great piece, you did well!

    ReplyDelete
  55. If you are brave and you want the lipstick idea to be emphasised I would choose the exact pink of your favourite dot and give it a thin pink metal frame.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I think a large simple white frame would look best, but LOVE the idea of mixing it up with a really ornate gold/silver frame!
    Great painting!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Why framing it??? It looks beautiful "floating" on the wall like someone said before :D

    ReplyDelete
  58. It's lovely, Jen! No need for framing in my opinion!

  59. Love it! I actually like it without a frame. Enjoy your day!

  60. Honey..you are too cool for school! Love it...and honestly I love it just the way it is..without a frame..it looks more artistic and natural..f you were to frame it..I would go with something white..or silver..something that does not take away too much from all the vibrant colours on your painting..and to blend nicely with your walls.Great work sweety..and so very you.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Wow that's so pretty! Very inspiring, I'm tempted to pull out the paint brushes...As for a frame, I like it the way it is, without one.

    ReplyDelete
  62. So amazing! I love it exactly the way it is! And I love the little tree with the ornaments in the background!

  63. TO EVERYONE: Oh my goodness! Thanks so much for all your sweet comments & suggestions on frames. I am still torn, but may just get a floating frame in white or silver....similar to what ALAINA had suggested.... :) Talk to you all soon!

    ReplyDelete
  64. A sliver of a silver frame maybe? Regardless I love the painting!

    ReplyDelete
  65. SO creative! you're totally right...it DOES look like lipstick! LOVE it. I like it as is, but would think a silver frame would make it pop off of the wall a little better. white might blend in too much and black would be too great of a contrast?

  66. i say a floating frame of some kind. either wood or metal finish. this way the canvas still has freedom. :)

  70. How awesome is that room?! I agree with everyone that no frame is necessary- it's beautiful on its own. It's cool to see the colors you chose and how you placed them.

  71. I love your painting. I have a pillow from IKEA that has circles on it in brwn, gray and beige and I thought so often of coping it.

    Maybe I will try....

As some people said before me, I think it looks great without a frame.

  76. I like the painting you've done, nice colours. I think it looks great without a frame but if you need to have one, I would go for a very simple, wooden, white or washed out white, thin, minimalistic. :)
