What a day...

Finally in NYC... My guy cracked the RV mirror when he ran it into a transit bus mirror. Then if that wasn't enough, we couldn't park in front of the building due to construction. So, parking & hauling things from a block away seemed like the only thing to do. It was insane.. But I had a laugh...

Thank God I have family here, they came out to help with the items we had in the RV. More to come soon! Hope everyone is well... My feet feel like they're about to fall off.

P.S. I'm the one with the aviator glasses holding my artwork!

Guest Post: By Chassity

Hi there! Chassity here from Look Linger Love popping in to talk about my art fetish.  We all know and desperately love Jen's Cocoa & Hearts shop, so today I thought I would introduce you to some more amazing artists that I think you'll love as well.

These pieces are fabulous, and naturally, they're all "made by girls".  Very talented ones.  In fact, I think you'll highly approve of this first artist!

Kate is a Charleston, SC girl (like me!) and I just so happen to have the privilege of calling her a friend.  She was one of the very first artists that really struck my fancy, and my love for her art has only grown.

I recently did a Q&A with Kate on my blog that you might want to check out if you're liking what you see.  {It's definitely not one of those boring "tell me what inspired this piece" type of interviews!}.

You might be familiar with her hystericaly awesome blog, My Favorite & My Best aka MFAMB, but have you seen her paintings?  Jenny recently started sharing her work, and I'm a huge fan already.  And considering she's new, I'd say right about now is the time to invest if you know what I mean.

If you need to glam up your space on a limited budget then Leigh Viner's etsy shop is great place to peruse.  She sells originals and prints so there is something there for everyone.  And don't you just feel prettier looking at these?

I love Kate's softness in the background that is then overlapped with scribbles (I'm sure she wouldn't describe them that way though, ha! Sorry Kate).

My daughter Lilly is lucky enough to have a couple of pieces by Kate in her nursery.  Someday she'll thank me.

I started an impressive little collection of Sally's paintings.  She is another Charleston girl, another friend of mine, and seriously rocks my world.  I pretty much adore everything that she turns out.  I also did a Q&A with Sally {it's not the sucky boring type either} that you should definitely check out as she is one stylish girl to get to know.

Here I am along side the lovely Sally with a piece of hers that my husband purchased for me at one of Sally's shows.

Lilly Evans:

Lastly, what kind of mother would I be if I didn't share some of my baby girls' abstract masterpieces? I'm her biggest fan.

So I think I've taken over Jen's blog long enough.  I hope you've enjoyed this art tour today and have found some new artists to love.  I hope ya'll come see me sometime.

Thanks for inviting me today, Jen.  xoxox, Chassity.

What's Your Passion?...(Made By Girl)

It's such a nice feeling to see my paintings in someone elses home. For quite sometime I only made original artwork for myself & my family.

After coming across so MANY copycats of my Made By Girl art, I decided it was time to venture into one of my OTHER passions.... painting.

I admit, at first I was a little SCARED. The thought of NOT SELLING one single painting.... crossed my mind. However, I decided that worrying wasn't going to BENEFIT anyone & that I had to have faith in what I was doing.

To tell you the truth, I have loved painting since........aaah yes, FOREVER.  It is a passion.

I started painting when I was about 7 years old & even painted a landscape scene on my dad's back (with magic markers). That was my dad's idea. He was so IMPRESSED with my ability to draw & paint that he told me to draw whatever I wanted on his back. He has a pretty WIDE BACK, so there was PLENTY of space!

I ended up drawing an ocean, a few palm trees, a boat & a whale.  I remember the BIG smile my DAD had when he turned around & looked at his back in the mirror! To this day, he talks about it!!

In essence, painting has always been a part of me....a God-given gift that I am grateful for.

So, what THING are you passionate about doing?? Have you ever thought of sharing this passion with others? OR does that thought scare you??

This is one of the paintings I did - it was one of the first few I launched that sold out the first week. Becky Kimball of 'All that I Love' blog purchased it & sent me these lovely pics! Nice huh?

Friday Morning At My Place....(Via Made By Girl)

It's Friday.....the CONTRACTORS ARE HERE & they're starting to tape things off in the kitchen as well as ALL the bathrooms. Looks like it'll be sanding today & spraying tomorrow morning! I'm really NOT looking forward to the sanding part! Hmmmm, I'm so STARVED right now, all the food is packed & nothing solid to eat!! Ugh.

My guy stayed home from work today (but he's still working from home) & I'm thinking I'm going to STEAL HIM away & go grab a bite outside! I'll be taking pics of the KITCHEN RENOVATION as we go along, so you'll get to see all the changes.....so exciting!!!!

In the meanwhile, here's a new PAINTING I did a few days ago. I was so INSPIRED after going to the Getty, I pulled out the paintbrush. As you can see it's pretty darn BIG!  I'm very much into WHITE these days, so this painting definitely brings a splash of COLOR & happiness to my home! The way I applied the paint reminds me of LIPSTICK

Anyway, I DO need to frame it STILL, any ideas what kind of frame??

ART by Thomas Nozkowski .......(Via Made By Girl)

Elle Decor's October 2010 issue featured an artist named Thomas Nozkowski. Did you see this feature??

I'm a HUGE art lover, I find Nozkowski's work to be quite compelling! For me, the colors & the use of unusual shapes are what attracts me to his pieces.  Thomas has been painting for more than 30 years....but I REALLY hope his work will be talked and written about more.  Enjoy!

Susan Brown's Romantic Paintings....(Via Made By Girl)

I came across Susan Brown's paintings some time ago and found them to be so romantic and pretty! These are great pieces of artwork for those of you looking to add flowery-type ART to your home! On her site she offers originals and prints of her originals as well.

For me, I'd rather have the ORIGINALS.....I need to TOUCH the canvas and feel the paint texture!  I was also very drawn to Susan's use of colors, she's not afraid to splash hot pinks and bright reds on one canvas... all the while still looking great!
Check out more of Susan's work via her site.

Kate Long Stevenson, creating some Amazing ART....

Kate Long Stevenson is an abstract painter from South Carolina that I love. She does mostly abstract work, which is my favorite.  I love how so many of her subjects blend in with the colors!  I can envision Kate's paintings in an entryway/foyer or even in a dining room setting....plain white walls and her colorful piece accentuating the space! Please check out more of this talented artist here.
