The contractor took 2 days to do the job, which is exactly the way it should be done. First day he placed the tiles & sealed them...then came back the next day for grout & one final sealing.

We still need to place the HARDWARE, (yes, they finally arrived) but I realized I ordered the wrong knobs!!!! So, another few days of waiting, darn.....

Are you doing a kitchen renovation? What kind of backsplash are you using?
it looks great Jen! Love the color and the tile great choice
ReplyDeleteLOVE the backsplash...looks great!
ReplyDeleteLove the new backsplash!
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS! Nothing more classic and elegant than marble! We did a kitchen reno about three years ago and we used a green glass subway tile. We used carerra marble on our fireplace though and we absolutely love it! I told my hubs our next kitchen will be a white one just like yours!! Congrats - looks FABULOUS!!
ReplyDeletexo,
joann
This is SUCH gorgeous backsplash! It looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteI was planning on doing simple white subway tile in our kitchen...but you are making me rethink it. I love this!
Love it-- it looks perfect!
ReplyDeleteLooks really fab! Hard to believe you got them at Home Depot! And the countertop is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOoh great choice of tile colour - looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful, girl! I love the gray and white combination. I'm dreaming of a white kitchen and seeing your photo's are only making my urge to get started stronger!
ReplyDeletePerfection! It looks beautiful. Well done.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a transformation! I would have never guessed that the tile came from Home Depot! Looks great.
ReplyDeleteLooks great. We're going to do a white subway tile w light gray grout. Our countertops are corian and we're not going to replace them ($$) so I think white subway is the way to go to keep it classic. Now we're going to work on painting the cabinets, thinking a grayish white. Jealous of your tile, I'm going to use that in our bath remodel next year.
ReplyDeleteFABULOUS! My BF makes fun of me b/c I'm obsessed with carrera marble! He says he didn't even know what it was before me! LOL.
ReplyDeleteThese tiles look perfect in your space, fabulous price and after your cabinet experience you certainly deserved a problem free project!! Looking forward to see the next step of this space.

Jen this looks AMAZING! I bet you are SO excited about your gorgeous kitchen! I love the soft grays and white grout... Can't wait to see the hardware soon!

It looks amazing& so bright! I cannot wait to see the rest!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely backsplash. So pretty. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteJen! It looks AMAZING! and i cant beleive you got the tiles so cheaply! Carrara costs a small fortune over here! I cant wait to see the full shots of the kitchen
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome Jen!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow - looks amazing Jen! Just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLuv your backsplash. I'm actually renovating my kitchen now. Click the link for a close up of my backsplash. It's a glass mosaic tile with carrara marble.

I love it! It came out so beautiful. Can't wait to see the finished product!
ReplyDeleteI love that you posted this. I so badly want to replace my backsplash. I live in a 1931 cottage and the kitchen was redone back in the early 90's by a previous owner. Most of the backsplash is square white tiles....but there are black tiles too for decoration and I hate, hate the black ones. I was thinking of ripping all out and doing white subway tile (the ones with the beveled edge) but after seeing your marble tile and that you got it at Home Depot. I am seriously thinking of doing this.
ReplyDeleteYou can see my existing kitchen here....

Looks gorgeous!!
ReplyDeletelooks gorgeous! Merry Christmas, Jen....Julie
ReplyDeleteWOW! That looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteI've been following your blog for a little bit now so I get a sense of your style and I can totally tell that it's you.
Great choice!
We just bought a 1940s house. The kitchen still has the original tiles: light orange. So I just painted the wall lavender purple for a nice contrast. No remodeling yet...
Looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSAVVY GAB: I know right! I went to home depot just to look, I had no idea they sold these tiles there...and great price too. :)
ReplyDeleteMRS. JETPLANE: Sounds like a smart idea. My counters are also Corian...they are called Rain cloud and resemble carrara marble slightly. I think your kitchen will turn out great with the white tiles....you may even forget about wanting to change the counters after they're up!
ReplyDeleteJANELL: No kidding! I was so HAPPY when the tile guy was done...and all turned out well, thank God.
ReplyDeleteABODE LOVE: Yes! Very excited.
ReplyDeleteCHYANNE: Glass tiles are great...i probably would have done them in a white..but it wouldnt have matched with my cabinets i think! Good luck with your reno. :)))
ReplyDeleteLAUREN: Thanks!! :)))
ReplyDeleteNITA: I love the beveled edge subway tiles, they are a bit pricey though...however if your going to keep the checkered floor, id say do the white subway tiles. If your going to replace floor, then the carrara marble may go better. :))) That's just what I think...but I can totally see why you dont like the black tiles...it's just not as appealing.
ReplyDeleteGo for it!
Gorgeous, Gorgeous, Gorgeous! I am so happy for you and your husband; your kitchen is coming along perfectly. What kind of counter did you have installed?
ReplyDeleteCARPE DIEM: The counter is Corian -color= Rain Cloud. :) thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh Jen, I love it! It's so beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic, Jen, and much more expensive than it actually was!!
ReplyDeleteJUST GORGEOUS Jen! I love it... I am always so inspired by Carrera (sp?) marble. SO pretty. We are actually planning a kitchen reno now and will probably used white glazed subway tiles. With kids and a very busy kitchen I feel like they will clean up easier than marble. Some day I will have marble - when the kids move out maybe!?!?
ReplyDeleteWow! Jen, it looks nothing short of stunning!
ReplyDeleteOh it turned out lovely Jen! Can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful. We've yet to finish the back splash that our previous owners left unfinished when we bought the house; I'm bookmarking this page for inspiration!
ReplyDeleteLooks so good...can't wait to see more! It's going to be gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteMerry Merry Christmas!
xo
Looks great Jen. I'll be doing my backsplash in the new year. thinking of something like this:

LOVE!!! Loving the backsplash and countertops...so clean and fresh.
ReplyDeleteWow, looks really fantastic! I would LOVE to redo our kitchen, but sadly, we don't own this house... someday... some house!!
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness! that looks really amazing~!! i love the tiles you chose!!
ReplyDeletesooo pretty~!!! <3
looks very nice. I'm would have never thought Home Depot would carry such gorgeous tiles at affordable price. Cant wait to see more pictures.

Beautiful, Jen! Such a classic look, and I'm so glad the tile guy did a great job!
ReplyDeleteWe just finished renovating the kitchen at a house we're flipping and we went with a mini (1 x 2) subway tile in white - it catches the light nicely (if I do say so myself) and it's a slightly modern twist on a classic.
we just bought these exact same tiles for our backsplash! it looks great!
ReplyDeleteThe backsplash looks AMAZING! I've never seen carrera marble tiles before!
ReplyDeleteIt looks awesome!! We just moved in and still no backsplash.. I'm thinking white 2x2 on one side and using chalkboard paint for the other... still trying to convince myself! .. but this carerra looks so classy!! ... hmmmmm.....
ReplyDeleteLove it!! So do you have the same marble for your countertop? I am thinking about doing the same in search of the perfect white kitchen...
ReplyDeleteY: No, actually my counter tops are corian... :)
ReplyDeleteYour backsplash is beautiful! That turned out great. Your kitchen is really coming along and looks gorgeous! What a great Christmas gift!
ReplyDeleteOhh that is soo pretty!! Eventually I will do this in my new place!! Right now there is tile but I'll change it soon!! =)
ReplyDeleteMelanie's Randomness
Bravo! the tiles are perfect- just the right combo of white and gray to coordinate with cabinets and accentuate the stainless. Great price too.
ReplyDeleteit's looking SO great, and 286 - that's a great price...love it. :)
ReplyDeleteNothing but gorgeous! If I could have fit it in my budget I would have loved to have marble counters and backsplash. Our counters are in now, but the backsplash is yet to be done {these things always take so much longer than I think!!}. We'll have a simple white subway tile put in. Your kitchen is looking amazing Jen!!
ReplyDeleteNancy xox
It looks GREAT! are you soo happy? :-)
ReplyDeleteohmygosh, GORGEOUS. This is exactly what I want whenever I get to update my kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad this went smoothly for you, it looks amazing!
That backsplash is my absolute dream! Bookmarking this post so I can keep it in mind and make my new kitchen happen sooner rather than later!
ReplyDeleteThis is funny/scary. I did a kitchen reno a year ago and used the same tiles, white corian countertop and stainless appliances. Proof here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8013535@N08/ I wonder how many more of us there are out there :)
ReplyDeleteWe JUST had day one of demo over here today! We are doing a white subway tile for the backsplash! I am sooo excited for the whole makeover! Love your blog always:)
