I'm always fascinated with Kelly Wearstler, from her style, to her home decor, to her ambition & drive. She's had some hateful things said about her and her work, but I REALLY think those people need to stop judging & look at this woman for what she is: PURE TALENT.
I was recently looking through her portfolio and I am so intrigued by her foyer/entry way. Have you seen it? At first glance it looks like she took a LIPSTICK and ran it over her wall. However, if you dig deeper, you'll know that isn't the case, it's in fact wallpaper. A pretty pattern I must say...it has a very GIRLY and abstract quality to it.
What do you think of Kelly's style? Any thoughts?

K.W.I.D is the master of eclectic design. I just adore her style. While I might not rock her hairstyles or fashion choices, I applaud her for not caring what anyone else thinks.
ReplyDeleteDesign is exciting only when risks are taken.
Really super beautiful! So unique and interesting. Masterful!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE her style. She's definately mastered the art of the unexpected!! I did a recent post on her dream project (the white house!). http://marcusdesigninc.blogspot.com/2010/07/kelly-wearstlers-dream-project.html

oh my I am in love. It is all gorgeous she def. hired.
ReplyDeleteI adore her work. It's wild, fun, unexpected, thought provoking and absolutely genious. She is one of my favorite interior designers.
ReplyDeleteThis home is truly original, I've never seen anything like it. Good! The great should not be duplicated, just inspiring. I came across your post this afternoon while browsing interior design blogs and the topic of window treatment selection was very interesting to me. It is true that you must dress your windows appropriately to bring out their true beauty. Thank you for writing and as a special thanks to you and your readers, I would like to offer a 20% off coupon using this code upon checkout: BLG20.
ReplyDeleteloooove the lipstick wall! she is the cutest, i adore her interior design talent and her fashion sense!
ReplyDeleteI love it! She's bold, sassy and confident with colour - go girl!
ReplyDeleteThat lipstick pattern is in fact wallpaper! Painted wallpaper, but paper none-the-less.
ReplyDeleteKelly Werstler uses Potrter Teleo, a hand printed and hand painted wall paper company for many of her custom wall coverings.
I used to intern for Porter Teleo, and the pattern on her entry way walls is a custom color of the hand painted pattern "tangled". I actually got to produce that pattern in a different color-way for a kwid project when I worked for Porter Teleo a few years ago!
You should look at their site, they make beautiful papers & are a great company... http://porterteleo.com/
KATIEMADE: Odd. I read in several places it was paint...hmmm
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I LOVE all of this, especially that wallpaper.
ReplyDeleteI love her! Although some of her work is a little out there for my house, I really appreciate her design style and her amazing drive. She is the coolest!
ReplyDeletei love her boldness, but she certainly is not for everyone. if you look at some of her commercial work, i do believe she can rein in a bit, too. that's what makes a great designer - one who can express her style in a way that fits the client's style. i could never live with so much color and decoration, but i also can't keep up with all the toys and clutter! that seems to be the decor of the moment!
ReplyDeleteI want her purple sofa! :-) Quirky in some places (like her pink office chairs with one leg) but so stunning. Thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI really like the colours in her office, especially how she made the painting the center piece. Can't imagine it being a family home though...
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Kelly's decor style! It's grand, bold and new.. And very daring. She is also insanely beautiful :D

Oh My...that office is divine. Great style!
ReplyDeleteShe's such an individualist! She is fierce with her interpretation of design and holds nothing back, which is admirable.
ReplyDeleteI think her style is very original and unpredictable in a good way. Definitely a design crush!

I adore her. I just picked up her book, Hue, and am in love with it!
ReplyDeletei'm a huge fan of kelly wearstler! i admire her diverse style and the way she continues to "reinvent" herself as a designer. there are plenty of designers out there who do amazing work but sometimes get stuck with one style that they keep repeating. kelly's projects are always unexpected, glamorous and chic with a twist of quirkiness. If you're going to make a statement with your work, people are either going to love it or hate it. If they're indifferent then you played it too safe! great post jen :)
ReplyDeleteEye catching style and truly a master... I was not aware of any bad press. However I completely agree with you: there is a distinct separation between the personal and the professional.
ReplyDeleteI love her style.. her office is utterly smashing..
ReplyDeleteTrina Turk just held a book signing for kelly wearstler thursday night in Los Angeles. I was on the list to attend but had a previous obligation. Bummer, would have been so fun to meet her.
ReplyDeleteit's a WOW! it's FANTABULOUS!
ReplyDeleteHow anyone could say anything bad about her is beyond me! Her style and everything about her is so glamorous and I always look to her work for inspiration.
