Your Fear of Color ..... (Marie Claire Maison)

Experimenting with new paint colors in your home can be scary right? Most of us think, it may not always turn out the way we want it to. That may be the reason so many people FEAR using color in their homes! As for me, I'm NOT much of a color-on-the-wall type gal (I used to be). I've experimented with a deep red, black , dark brown and even pink in my home!  However, these days I like to stick to all white & accentuate my walls with colorful artwork instead.

Then I SWEAR, there are days I look through sites like Marie Claire Maison & wonder if I should ADD some color to my walls....they do it so well! Sometimes, I think if you just let go of your FEARS you can REALLY experience what it's like to be free. So, let go of that fear & buy that paint color you've been wanting for so long, paint that wall or room & see how you feel after wards. Who knows, you may just LOVE it!

  4. I generally think artwork looks better on a neutral background as opposed to on a whit wall, I don't understand why the walls at every art gallery is white..? Then again, your home is white with lot's of art, and it looks gorgeous, so there must be something to it!

  5. I fully agree! It's always a bit dangerous to start painting a wall in a strong color. In my previous home I painted my dining room kissing red and I must admit it was a beauty:-) If you want I can send you some images.

Love all these pictures! I definitely think that one bold colored wall along with the rest being neutral is a gorgeous way to decorate a home!

I love color on walls. I am just carefull about what colors. Nothing too bright or too dark. I like pale shades.

  8. My bedroom is almost exactly the color which is in the one posted pic. My daughter says it is the color of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. This is bright and uplifting during our long rainy season in North Western Washington.

I recently painted an accent wall in my living room a warm orange color and then painted the rest of the room a warm butter color. I love it! It is SO cheerful!

ADD COLOR! It is so freeing to break away from stark white! J.

  11. I go back and forth about this. I once selected a paint that I thought would look like a creamy yellow but turned out to a hideous shade of mustard. I've been scared ever since. I do love the look in other people's homes though.

  29. Isn't it funny how the more vibrant a color is in a photo, the more I like it, but then hesitate to use it myself?! Three rooms in our home have bold color....now to work on the rest! :>

I notice that is the case for most people..they love it in magazines/pictures etc. But then to do it in their own home...oh the dilemma ! I say, it's just paint...what's the worst that could happen right?
