Then I SWEAR, there are days I look through sites like Marie Claire Maison & wonder if I should ADD some color to my walls....they do it so well! Sometimes, I think if you just let go of your FEARS you can REALLY experience what it's like to be free. So, let go of that fear & buy that paint color you've been wanting for so long, paint that wall or room & see how you feel after wards. Who knows, you may just LOVE it!
Your Fear of Color ..... (Marie Claire Maison)
Experimenting with new paint colors in your home can be scary right? Most of us think, it may not always turn out the way we want it to. That may be the reason so many people FEAR using color in their homes! As for me, I'm NOT much of a color-on-the-wall type gal (I used to be). I've experimented with a deep red, black , dark brown and even pink in my home! However, these days I like to stick to all white & accentuate my walls with colorful artwork instead.

I like the color, however the herringbone pattern on the floor KILLS me. I LOVE IT and it will be done in my house...when i have a house.
ReplyDeleteThese visuals are great! I love color and would like to do more painting in my apt, but it's a bit hard as a renter. :(

I am so in love with this dining room and those green chairs...The floor is amazing too:)
ReplyDeleteKisses and have a wonderful Tuesday:)
I generally think artwork looks better on a neutral background as opposed to on a whit wall, I don't understand why the walls at every art gallery is white..? Then again, your home is white with lot's of art, and it looks gorgeous, so there must be something to it!
ReplyDeleteI fully agree! It's always a bit dangerous to start painting a wall in a strong color. In my previous home I painted my dining room kissing red and I must admit it was a beauty:-) If you want I can send you some images.

Love all these pictures! I definitely think that one bold colored wall along with the rest being neutral is a gorgeous way to decorate a home!
ReplyDeleteI love color on walls. I am just carefull about what colors. Nothing too bright or too dark. I like pale shades.
ReplyDeleteMy bedroom is almost exactly the color which is in the one posted pic. My daughter says it is the color of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. This is bright and uplifting during our long rainy season in North Western Washington.
ReplyDeleteI recently painted an accent wall in my living room a warm orange color and then painted the rest of the room a warm butter color. I love it! It is SO cheerful!
ADD COLOR! It is so freeing to break away from stark white! J.
That blanket with the silhouette of the white dress is adorable! How whimsical!?
ReplyDeleteI admit I love color on the walls ! Is that dress made into the bedspread ? If so, that is clever !
ReplyDeleteI go back and forth about this. I once selected a paint that I thought would look like a creamy yellow but turned out to a hideous shade of mustard. I've been scared ever since. I do love the look in other people's homes though.
ReplyDeleteI love color! That first pink and navy room is to die for! It looks soo chic! love!

oh that pink with yellow is so pretty! I can't wait to move and start off with white walls that will end up ??? ...colorful!
ReplyDeleteI'm w/Natalie on the herringbone floor - oh my goodness! So wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI adore the last photo with the green chairs. I would love to do this in my house!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite rooms are 5 and 8. Those green chairs will set off the whole room.
ReplyDeleteForget the color...do you see those chevron pattern wood floors?
ReplyDeleteLoving the shower picture and color in it. The mirror doesn't hurt either. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the creativity and imagination that are seen in the rooms.
ReplyDeleteYep, this makes me want to add some more color. The floor in that first picture is INSANE!
ReplyDeleteThat top photo is beautiful! I love the purple.
ReplyDeleteThese are all gorgeous! I do love the turquoise shower for something a bit different!
ReplyDeletePaint is really so easy to change and makes such a huge impact!! Go for it even behind bookcases, in a powder room, a porch!

ReplyDeleteA granny/vintage/handmade touch to the house is always nice.

ReplyDeletethose wall colors are great but i couldn't stpop looking at those beautiful floors! i'm with you on the white/neutral walls though!
ReplyDeleteI love the pops of color but like everyone else, I think the floors are beautiful. Such an unusual pattern that would cost a mint today!

I love Marie Claire Maison! I love color, too, Jen....so much so that it's hard to ever choose which one to use. xx
ReplyDeleteTIMOTHY AND JEANNE HISEY: Wow, you definitely have no fear of color, that's great. :)
ReplyDeleteHa! I love how your daughter calls the color macaroni and cheese...adorable!
Isn't it funny how the more vibrant a color is in a photo, the more I like it, but then hesitate to use it myself?! Three rooms in our home have bold color....now to work on the rest! :>
ReplyDeleteNATALIE:
ReplyDeleteI know sooo many people that LOVE that herringbone pattern...I do too!
My husband isnt crazy about it...and i wonder why more homes don't have it here in the US...!
URBAN STYLE VIBES: Sure why not, id love to see it!

ReplyDeleteI notice that is the case for most people..they love it in magazines/pictures etc. But then to do it in their own home...oh the dilemma ! I say, it's just paint...what's the worst that could happen right?
you said it!!! i'm painting my new bedroom pink and even though the risk makes me nervous i'm so excited to see how it turns out!
ReplyDeleteThese are great examples of bold and fun color choices. I have to say that I die for the herringbone floors as well :)
