WOW.... modular floor covering tiles are a HUGE thing these days...
In fact, I recall when FLOR first came onto the scene back in 2003. I didn't know much about the company then but when 2007 rolled around, I was already wondering how these things worked! I was VERY curious how these pieces would fit together & how they would stay on the floor! I mean, couldn't I just pull one up accidentally with my foot!?!?
They were.... after all just SQUARES....right?
Well, I was relieved when I did more research & visited the FLOR site - I found out they were SUPER DUPER easy to install. The tiles come with a round adhesive dot that sticks to the backside of the tile but not the floor....so that means...no damaging your floors...cool huh?

I FINALLY got to see the tiles in person when an exhibitor at the National Stationery Show had them in her booth.....they looked amazing!
I think FLOR is perfect for people who want to add some interest & color to their home. I can also see these tiles in a commercial OFFICE SPACE...instantly adding a creative feel!
GET THIS: You can actually buy a few SAMPLES before ordering... which is a fantastic way to make sure you get what you want!!

So, let me know....do you have FLOR tiles? Where would you consider using them in your home??
I just saw their tiles featured in Home by Novogratz! I was wondering who designed them... very nice!
ReplyDeletethey are fun. i like the black and white....and I love your shoes! :)
ReplyDeleteyay! so glad Flor is getting so much attention lately.
ReplyDeleteabout7 years ago we did our entire third floor in Flor tiles - the previous owner had icko carpet down and with dogs we thought the squares made more sense.
Here's our tips:
1. Put some sort of pad under them. They are not cushy enough to stand on their own.
2. Don't buy the "just rinse it off"....buy 20% extra than your square footage - 10% as normal overage for installation cuts and 10% for replacements. You will kick yourself if you don't.
3. Wear kneepads when installing them.
I have FLOR carpet tiles in my living room, which is an L shaped room, so my options were two smaller rugs, awkwardly placed to try and create one large rug, or having two distinct spaces. I went with the Sophistikat tiles in a cream/tan combination and absolutely love them. They stay put without a problem, and are at the same time easily replaceable if one gets stained. I'm thinking about putting some in my guest bedroom eventually as well. Great product all around!
ReplyDeleteJAMIE: thats such a great idea for an oddly shaped living space.. I also dont like buying several carpets for a space to find out they look AWKWARD...good thinking!
ReplyDeleteERIKA: awesome tips. With dogs this would seem like a great way to go... thanks!!
These look amazeballs!

ReplyDeleteOk, those FLOR tiles are pretty awesome, especially the black scroll pattern but not as awesome as your shoes :)
ReplyDeleteDo you think those flor pieces for the garage work in snow/slush? They are adorable! If I can say that about garage floor pieces. :)
ReplyDeleteI was just introduced to these modular tiles today!! How bizarre. I heard they're super sustainable and environmental friendly too! I can see a little mix of a variety of patterns making for an artistic statement!
ReplyDeleteI bought some about 7 years ago to use as a runner down a very narrow long hallway in my house. They are still in place today and look brand new. So happy with this product... such a genius invention.
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this product what an amazing idea!
ReplyDeleteLove this! Great comments too.

I spent a long time perusing Flor's website last night after reading this post--they are so cool! Would love to do them in a future home, once we're past the renting stage. :) Xo, Katie

I first used flor tiles in my daughter's nursery and have since moved them to her play area. They're great with kids and dogs because they are super easy to clean.
ReplyDeleteI've used Flor Tiles for years and love them! I've used them in multiple rooms, I even wrote a paper on them in my building and materials class when I was getting my interior design degree! Stain no problem, just replace it, finished using them, just send them back to Flor so they can recycle them, create an floor no one has, easy! Geez you'd think I got money for them, but really, I just love the product!
ReplyDeletevery cool, just ordered their catalog. may be an easy way of creating the stripes I want in the colors I want. Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteWe have this in our living room(differet color palette no longer available) http://www.flor.com/if-there-be-thorns-blue.html
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine in NYC introduced me to Flor a few years ago. I think they are so innovative...and how perfect for a family with children! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Love the black and white!!
ReplyDeletePlus lovvvvvveeee you shoes!!
Xo
We have these in our office and they're great. My friend is an interior designer and when we lived together she would bring home carpet samples for us hahah we used them as impromptu welcome mats or hallway runners (duct taped together since we couldn't actually install them...) they're very versatile.
ReplyDeleteso beautiful!
ReplyDeleteA FLOR runner for my kitchen is currently at the top of my list.
ReplyDeleteson fantasticos!!!
ReplyDeleteLove carpet tiles. I learned all about them in college and how much more environmentally friendly they are. I came across Flor's website a few months ago and had a catalogue sent to my home. I like their stylish designs and would def consider purchasing to create the size area "rug" I want.
ReplyDeleteyes FLOR is definitely a wonderful product to have. and gotta say, i love those shoes!
ReplyDeleteI've got Flor tiles in my living room. I needed a rug, and I wasn't 100% sure what size I needed to get. Mine are actually used, which means they were even cheaper than if I'd bought them new, and I even have extras if I spill on one!
ReplyDeleteNiCK: interesting... Where do you buy used FLOR tiles?
ReplyDeleteFlor Tiles are absolutely amazing! We have them in our dining room and in our living room. :) http://designbuildlove.co/?p=282
ReplyDeleteI have them in my kitchen right now. I plan on placing them in my garage once i finish the renovation out there. I will also be placing them in the living room as an area rug.
ReplyDeleteThey install very quick using the tac tile adhesive squares to connect the tiles.
Flor is a company of Interface carpets and I love there philosophy and commitment to the environment.
