This is one of Madonna's apartments in NYC, although I'm not sure if she still owns it. However, what a big transition this was for her adopted son - David?!? To go from nothing in Malawi, to something like this.! I don't mean this exact place, but the idea of such luxury. Hell, what a big transition this would be for most of us! As for the Interior Design (done by her brother) I'm not that crazy about it. What do you think about it? The colors are terrible! Although, I do like the bathroom retreat & her kitchen (with a little microwave for popcorn) is cute! These are older pics, but I still can't convince myself that it's good design.

Not a big fan of the interior either... Rather special style, not really cosy and homey! I am a fan of her long hallway though!
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of the purple couches, but the hallway is lovely with its polished floors.
ReplyDeletesparse...in a bad way.
ReplyDeleteThe kitchen is cute-ish
the flowere arrangement must be from her Like a Virgin tour..old school- the bath room ...Material Girl Special-again, in a bad way.Great art work!
I'm probably in the minority, but I love the purple chairs! I don't necessarily think they work so well in this setting, but in a cozy library or office with lots of books and warm lamplight. Yum.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I really like is the lighting in the hallway, very Deltalight. I'm not a fan but she's
ReplyDeletereally too cool for that place...
Love your blog!
Yeah I agree...its not really my style. Nothing really seems to flow and its just akward lol I do like the long hallway and the bath tub :)
ReplyDeletehey gym looks outta the 80s!
ReplyDeleteBathroom is great.I want to take a bath there:)
ReplyDeleteACTUALLY, i believe these pics were shot in 2006 or 2007...still not that great design.
ReplyDeletei think the purple chairs are great and i love a good claw foot bath, but i think some people who put too much money into their homes, end up going over the top and tacky. needs to be less is more in this case really.
ReplyDeletethank you for sharing
I think its really great to hear people sharing their opinions. It sometimes gets boring reading how great everything is. :)

Is that Tamara de Lempicka picture a real one? Well, taking into account that we're talking about Madonna it must be an original... Now, I envy her!
ReplyDeletenot a fan of the design either but apparently she bought an apartment next to hers and turned the entire thing into a gym!
ReplyDeletethe interior design is sort of mish mashed but not in a good way, it's as if there is no distinct personality in the space!
Yikes - I like the bathroom and the hallway (because of the architecture really) but the rest of the place needs help - not a fan of those kitchen cabinets...
ReplyDeleteWhere's the color? Poor little boy. Doesn't look very kid friendly or homey.
ReplyDeleteThis is from an article originally published in, like, 1991. I highly doubt everything looks exactly the same; I mean, it's Madonna, she likes change. She has even more apartments added on to it now, as well. So it does look somewhat dated, but I still like the presiding style, Art Déco, very Madonna.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the insight....even still, I don't like it at all.
I can't stand those purple chairs, or the rug! It's so 90s. I do like the bathroom, and the hallway (except for the track lighting). I wish more windows had been photographed, the living room feels like it's in a basement.

ReplyDeleteI didn't think of that, but I totally agree about the windows....no enough in this apartment.
Oh yeah, I can see "like a prayer" happening in that bathroom! It's gotta be that vintage. And I can appreciate the curved ceiling in the hall.
ReplyDeleteBit boring for me though.
I like the Tamara De Lempicka painting and the curvy vintage lady, but shame Madonna looks more like the boxer in the gym.

ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of purple at all, especially in decor! but for some reason I am loving those velvet-like purple chairs and that purple rug. Who knew??!
ReplyDeleteThis is not my design style, but I love that it's clean and uncluttered. I hate the homey, lived in, look.
