My search for Lighting ....

I'm seriously looking for either new lamps, to PAINT the ones in my bedroom you see here, or paint and add a new shade. My preference would be an all white lamp with gold ring at the bottom of the base, but I haven't decided yet.

Coming across so many amazing LAMPS all over the place probably isn't helping! However, I'm certain something will strike me! I came across some I really liked, let me know what you think. I'd love to know where you shop for lighting....

Do you have a favorite source for lamps??

My Bedroom in Progress.....

If you remember, I mentioned that I had purchased this headboard from West Elm. Well, we knew that it would look TOO LOW with our pillow top mattress, so we took matters into our own hands and designed a headboard extension for it! It isn't perfect, but it definitely did the job! Hopefully, you can see past the WRINKLED sheets... hence the reason why I said I need fitted sheets.

So, as you can see the West Elm headboard was ELEVATED onto a headboard extension to make it appear higher...(11 1/4" to be exact). Using 1" boards, we made a box just like the one at the bottom of the headboard and mounted the headboard on top of it. We then patched off the small openings on the original headboard with a couple of small pieces of ivory leather we bought on Ebay.

cushions on bed are from fabricadabra, pier 1,

By the way the paint in my room is NOT black, it's actually called Turret Stair by Ralph Lauren Paints. You can also see the color here more accurately.

I'm also looking to buy a pair of nightstands and came across these from World Market. They're a little plain, but I think I can manage to spruce them up with some interesting hardware.

Kelly Wearstler......(Via Made By Girl)

I'm always fascinated with Kelly Wearstler, from her style, to her home decor, to her ambition & drive. She's had some hateful things said about her and her work, but I REALLY think those people need to stop judging & look at this woman for what she is: PURE TALENT

I was recently looking through her portfolio and I am so intrigued by her foyer/entry way. Have you seen it? At first glance it looks like she took a LIPSTICK and ran it over her wall. However, if you dig deeper, you'll know that isn't the case, it's in fact wallpaper. A pretty pattern I must say...it has a very GIRLY and abstract quality to it.

What do you think of Kelly's style? Any thoughts?

Welcome back....RUM Interiors (Via Made by Girl)

So, how did your weekend go? Mine, was really nice. My guy finished building the added addition to our new West Elm headboard. I'll show you pics soon so you can see what I'm talking about...it looks SO much better!  Still waiting for my Louis chairs to arrive back from my upholster.... and boy am I ANXIOUS!
This weekend I also bought myself the new Michael Kors Python Hamilton tote, this bag is SUPER chic! I have it in white too, but this one was a must-have.

On a more designy note, (ok, so that may not be a word, but you know what I mean) Rum is a Scandinavian magazine which I love and was in desperate need of blogging about. I really thought these interior spaces would be a great way to start your week. Enjoy!

Room For Children....Book Review (Via Made By Girl)

Room For Children published by Rizzoli is such a cool & inspiring book for those of you who have KIDS.  I swear, I instantly fell in LOVE with this book while flipping through it's 240 PAGES of full color!

I don't have any kids yet, but I wanted to share it with those of you who do! I'm sure it's a CHALLENGE coming up with IDEAS to decorate a nursery etc., but whether for a newborn, toddler, or teenager, the rooms shown here enrich the experience of childhood while inspiring with their imaginative design.

You'll see rooms decorated by top designers like, Kelly Wearstler, Charlotte Moss, Alessandra Branca, Amanda Nisbet, and Thomas Jayne, among many others. How's that for INSPIRATION?

You can pick up your copy here.

It definitely makes for a great coffee table book with it's perfect size! Kids are so lucky these days to be exposed to such creativity. Don't you think? I DEFINITELY recommend this book!!

Queen of Jimmy Choo.... Tamara Mellon's Home

Tamara Mellon, is the stylish founder of Jimmy Choo. We all know Jimmy Choo right?? Well, Harper's Bazaar was let in to her New York apartment and I think you'll be amazed at all the interesting and unique qualities of her place. Her apartment is a mix of high art and glam minimalism....AND let's not forget, a TON of shoes!

I'm so excited to pick up the new issue and read more about this interesting lady! I hear that in the interview with Harper's, she opens up about her lifestyle, overcoming challenges, and building her Jimmy Choo empire. But, is its true she may sell Jimmy Choo?? Hmmm

(click on pics for larger image)

Here she is posing with pretty little daughter, Minty.

Yes, those are photographs of SNAKES.

I really loved the Terence Koh neon installation that reads “love for eternity” in her entryway.  In the upstairs sitting room, there is a Warhol silkscreen of Grace Kelly which is also eye-catching!  In the kitchen, there’s a Jean-Michel Basquiat painting, which she has put onto a track and can be rolled away to reveal a flat-screen television.

For the rest of Tamara's home tour visit the Harper's Site.
