Office Update & Thoughts...(Via Made By Girl)

This is a pic I shot today of my office with the updated black wall behind the shelves. You can also slightly see the 108" white curtain panel to the left. That glass door goes out to a lovely 3rd story balcony.... very convenient when I want to get some fresh air during the daytime.

I'm REALLY considering changing out the WHITE drapes to either black, an IKAT, or a thin-lined zebra pattern.  What do you think?? Ideas??

P.S. All the ARTWORK currently in my office is painted by me....

My Office Bookshelf...(Via Made By Girl)

One of the things I worked on this past weekend was my office bookshelf.  My husband suggested we paint the back of the bookshelf in 'black beauty' by Benjamin Moore... I agreed & TA DAAA!! He was tired of all the white in the home office & I guess I was too.... To see what the shelves looked like BEFORE, go here.

I've also been working on some paintings, which I'll be REVEALING soon.... for sale!

Painting can be HAZARDOUS to pretty hands, I need a MANICURE bad!

My Bedroom in Progress.....

If you remember, I mentioned that I had purchased this headboard from West Elm. Well, we knew that it would look TOO LOW with our pillow top mattress, so we took matters into our own hands and designed a headboard extension for it! It isn't perfect, but it definitely did the job! Hopefully, you can see past the WRINKLED sheets... hence the reason why I said I need fitted sheets.

So, as you can see the West Elm headboard was ELEVATED onto a headboard extension to make it appear higher...(11 1/4" to be exact). Using 1" boards, we made a box just like the one at the bottom of the headboard and mounted the headboard on top of it. We then patched off the small openings on the original headboard with a couple of small pieces of ivory leather we bought on Ebay.

cushions on bed are from fabricadabra, pier 1,

By the way the paint in my room is NOT black, it's actually called Turret Stair by Ralph Lauren Paints. You can also see the color here more accurately.

I'm also looking to buy a pair of nightstands and came across these from World Market. They're a little plain, but I think I can manage to spruce them up with some interesting hardware.

My 50,000th Ebay Purchase...

Well not really. But I swear it feels like it!! Recall this post where I was searching for some Louis chairs?!? Well, I was hoping to land 6 chairs for under $1000 and that is what I scored on Ebay!
Just call me the negotiator....because this was a great deal! However, 2 things that I may have to change, the GOLD color paint to (probably) white....& in the distant future, maybe even removing the cane backing & replacing it with a solid back. For now, thankfully I'm HAPPY with my choice.

The next thing I have to figure out is, will I be SELLING my current farm style table & chairs or just the chairs??!??  I will make that decision within a week or so. In the meanwhile, do any of you have any suggestions on what COLOR combo would work well for these chairs and maybe even a fabric suggestion??!?

What would you do if these were yours??

Our Holiday Tree.....out of inspiration.

After being inspired by a picture of a tree I liked, I decided to go ahead & try something different in my home this year. My fiance' & I figured instead of buying branches, we could use some of the ones from the tree in our front yard. We figured we could get even more creative by placing white rocks as well as a light into the vase to illuminate the tree from the bottom up. (Which then casts a shadow onto the ceiling at night). Soooo, no traditional tree this year, instead something a bit more creative & homemade. I love to be inspired, it challenges me to push myself & create new things!

Is there anything you saw that inspired you to try it in your own home??

(My Main Guest Bedroom) in progress......

As you see below, I've been working on the main guest bedroom & ever since I wrote about Michelle's bedroom from Rubie Green - I wanted a brighter & sunnier-looking room for my guests! I bought the headboard fabric & my guy helped to upholster it. We painted the walls a bright white by Behr to bring in more light) & it worked! I chose this little side table with mirrored glass & still haven't fully decided what to place on it yet. One thing I am struggling with is what artwork to place (if at all) over the headboard....hmmm. I was thinking of a variety of small frames in clusters, like 5-7 of them. Any ideas?? In the meanwhile - have a HAPPY 4TH of July weekend!
