After being inspired by a picture of a tree I liked, I decided to go ahead & try something different in my home this year. My fiance' & I figured instead of buying branches, we could use some of the ones from the tree in our front yard. We figured we could get even more creative by placing white rocks as well as a light into the vase to illuminate the tree from the bottom up. (Which then casts a shadow onto the ceiling at night). Soooo, no traditional tree this year, instead something a bit more creative & homemade. I love to be inspired, it challenges me to push myself & create new things!
Is there anything you saw that inspired you to try it in your own home??

Great tree! I love it!
I love the tree! Except, I would probably end up keeping it around all year long!
I think it is gorgeous! Love how totally winter it feels - very chic and modern!
My tree was inspired by my little girl who is in love with ballet. Combined our love for Paris and tutu's - it is absolutely lovely!
Very cute! I love that it's illuminated from below!
love the garland!!
I love it! Of course I'm really into the real tree thing, but you do modern so well. The light at the bottom puts it over the top. Perfect!
in my home country, this tree is very common, we also put a concoction of laundry soap and baking soda to create faux snow and put it on the branches. Though I think faux snow is widely available now.
whoa, very very cool.
beautiful. so clean and simple.
Great job, Jennifer! I love the how it looks and why not opt for something different than the traditional Christmas tree...
Love it!
Oh I love it! And I think because you've chosen fairly traditional coloured decorations, the effect is ethereal rather than ghostly. Beautiful.
Very fun!
What a great idea! I love the shadows! Traditional tree now will look so boring! Always inspiring other Jennifer, thank you!
love ur creativity!!
MARY:
Yes, I actually thought about keeping up a little longer - at least until my wedding Jan 8. Since it doesn't look like an average tree, i may be able to pul it off i think!

WOW. I've never heard of that....Laundry soap & baking soda...? I guess If you want to recreate snow, that may work. :)

It looks so cute! I would never be able to do something so simple, I just can't! But I love how it looks and I admire so much how you decorate, thanks for sharing!!
ohhh - love it! perfect amount of decor too. not too much, not too little. and the light totally adds drama! i did a smaller version a few years ago and it was one of my favorite trees.
Love, Love... as usual!
Love it. I am making one for my grand children with marshmallow and popcorn garlands on - messy but beautiful

This is great. It looks like it belongs in your room. Great job!
That is a very inspiring photo. I would paint the branches completely white so, my ornaments stands out more.
I do something along that line, but mine's much bigger and much goofier. And it's pink!
Bravo for the restraint- I don't think I could have done it. I posted about mine a few years ago, but will post again sometime this week. ;-)
Great tree !! love your inspiration !! and it is green !!
it looks terrific
I love it! Normally I like to have a traditional tree since it's so warm and cozy. But this looks very nice and modern. And I love the flowers on your coffee table! They're ranunculus' right? My favorite.
