Hi everyone, Katie here from H2 Design. And yes, by now we all know that emerald is supposedly the color of the year. But I have to admit... I wasn't completely sold on the idea immediately.
So to help persuade myself, I gathered together some examples of successful spaces that use the trending emerald in varying doses; as an allover color (WOW!), in moderation through key anchor pieces, and as a refreshing accent.

Okay... I think this plush emerald sofa (pictured above) may be calling my name?!

I'm personally more comfortable with the latter; decorating with emerald in moderation. How do you all feel about the color of the year? Yay or nay?
Below I've pulled together some fun emerald toned accents to sprinkle throughout your homes...
1 - Emerald Vase, Terrain / 2 - Amazon Moss, Benjamin Moore / 3 - Emerald City, Liza Hathaway Matthews / 4 - Esme Glass Lamp, Stray Dog Designs / 5 - fabric / 6 - D.L. Rhein Basket Weave Pillow, Zinc Door / 7 - Zebra Pillow, Dwell Studio / 8 - Sanitraner Print, Anthropologie / 8 - Emerald, Glassy Baby

My absolute favorite color. I'm so glad Pantone chose it as the color of 2013.
ReplyDeleteI personally LOVE that green is in this year. The first photo of the kitchen is a little much for me though.. I would feel like I was stepping in the world of Oz. ;) But I agree, in moderation, its a definite YES. And I'm beginning to love it in my wardrobe too! xo

I was a little hesitant about incorporating emerald into my wardrobe, and even more so into my decorating. But I love the idea of using throw pillows and small accents to utilize the color throughout the home.

At first I was a bit surprised that Pantone chose this color as the official color of 2013, but these images really speak for themselves. You can create some great color combinations and color accents with Emerald. I own many emerald green pieces in my wardrobe and I look forward to wearing them this year!

I love emerald as the color of 2013! I think I like it best in small doses, like creative patterns on pillows or decorative containers.

Emerald can be a little daunting as color. But I love it as an accent.
