Back to Monday.....we finally got some great sunbathing weather on Saturday so I sunbathed. I usually only stay two hours because I don't want to end up looking like Snooki.....felt great! In the meanwhile I have family in town so I apologize ahead of time if my emails or comments are a bit late in responding!
But today there's another home tour, this one is from Emily over at Decor Chick? Know her? Well, here home is so nicely put together...from the entryway to the home office. She told me she's pretty much into traditional home decor, but slowly trying to bring in some modern touches.
What do you think? Any suggestions for her on how to go about it? Enjoy!

ooh I love those rugs, and all the mirrors! I especially love the... plates? above the bed! reminds me of some wall decor at the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica. Fab-u-lous! I've been on the hunt for a great circular shaped mirror as well!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely!! So elegant and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I love that it looks lived-in and isn't over styled!
ReplyDeleteI do like many of her traditional touches, but I am slowly trying to incorporate more "modern" touches to my home, as well. I am no decorator, but I immediately thought of some low cost touches that might pack the punch. In the entry, instead of the ginger jar shape of the jars on the shelf, why not go with a sleeker silhouette? She can find some great low-cost accents at Elm Hill. Also, she could substitute a drum shade for her more traditional lampshade and possibly bring in a floor lamp with a mid-century modern feel. Finally, I would encourage her to swap out her traditional painting with one of her fun mirrors. Despite my suggestions, her home is very warm and inviting!
ReplyDeleteI Just LOVE that rug! I have the same problem with adding modern to the traditional. Lately I just save pictures to my phone and when I go out looking for pieces or accessories I have something to refernce back so I won't "forget" =)
ReplyDeleteThe arrangement on that foyer table is amazing! Is that their wedding pic? It's divine!
ReplyDeleteWoah that place is gorgeous
ReplyDeleteWOW WOW WOW. I love this!
ReplyDeleteLove it !! Every part of her house has something special and something original. Whilst the loungeroom looks nice, I feel it needs some wow factor like the rest of the house. I love the rug....but does the area need a coffee table or some pouffes or some standing lamps or a trunk/chest or ummmm... what else could she bring into the area to create more interest there ??
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing - I love your home tours...

ReplyDeleteEmily has done such a good job and really knows how to find a great deal! Love how she just switched the paint from beige to gray.
ReplyDeletebeautiful home.
ReplyDeleteLinked this post on my blog. Traditional, classic style is hard to come across in Scandinavia. Everything is white and French-looking at the moment. Beautiful, but not my cup of tea. Thank you for the inspiration. And your home is beautiful btw! : ) Hope you've had a wonderful Easter!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the color palette used in this home. It is so clean and chic.
