How about a little FASHION post for the Holidays?
I don't know about YOU, but I'm really loving over the knee boots this HOLIDAY season. Ever since I saw someone wearing them a couple weeks ago, I knew I had to get a pair. This woman knew how to wear them, I was FLOORED at how chic and stylish she looked in them!! All of a sudden that whole over the knee boot STIGMA was gone! I never really owned a pair of these, so I was curious....could I carry this look?!?
I always thought they were too 'PRETTY WOMAN'....& some like to call them HOOKA boots, yes, I said HOOKA! (it's my way of saying it)
Well, let's just say..... I don't see them that way anymore. In fact, when worn with the right top and jeans, they look great!! When I was in Palm Springs this Thanksgiving weekend, I decided to BUY myself an early Christmas gift. I bought the Charles David ones you see below & they look AMAZING! My guy thinks so too.
So, tell me....do you own a pair of over-the-knee boots? or are they just not for you??
*top to bottom: l to r*:
I have to say, I was nervous to buy them too, but I love them and have gotten so many compliments. Mine have no heel though (something like this: http://www.stevemadden.com/Item.aspx?id=51842&np=127_282-129_396-596) which I felt took a little Hooka out of them. ;) Now that I see all the cute heel ones though I have changed my mind! Maybe I need a new pair for this year... hahaha
ReplyDeleteI love them but Im not totally sure if I could pull them off...I wish!
ReplyDeleteKisses,sweetie
I like 'em with skinny jeans or leggings, but I think the real key is to stick with more conservative elements on top (like, say, a great blazer or jacket). Don't own a pair though myself because here in Houston I'd only get to trot them out one or two times a year -- way too warm here!
ReplyDeleteooohh i love them all i would buy them all!
ReplyDeleteMELANIE: Ha! I just saw yours. I ACTUALLY tried on some with no heels...and they weren't for me. I looked frumpy...I needed something with a heel...and I knew i still wanted a sexy look. As I said, you can make them look stylish and chic depending on what you coordinate them with... :)
ReplyDeleteI would get a pair in a heartbeat if my legs weren't only 2 feet tall. I think they would go up to my crotch ;)
ReplyDeletei think they are totally chic. Obviously if you pair them with a mini skirt, no tights, and a corset, you risk leaning on the "hooka" side... but they actually cover a lot of skin. I would totally rock these!
ReplyDeleteI have some heeled over the knee boots and I love them.. I just feel in love with that pair that goes from the knee to the short ankle bootie.. LOVE them.. where did you find them?
ReplyDeleteI tried on many pairs, but I have calves like an athlete! No, not legs like a tennis player, but remember those 1950s pinups? I have legs like that and smaller feet. If you have smaller calves, I recommend these boots. I think we should all fly to Italy and have some custom made ;). Suede seems to stretch more....
ReplyDeletepretty woman!
ReplyDeleteI love HOOKA boots! I have wanted some for years before they became popular but i had the hardest time finding any. Especially vegetarian/animal friendly ones.
ReplyDeleteWhen you wrote HOOKA I was thinking HOOKAH. That pipe used for smoking the flavored tobacco! Lol!!
I'm not sure I could pull them off, but I think they can look amazing worn with the right outfit!
ReplyDeleteI love that first grey pair!! I bet you look incredible in yours.
X
I also own a black pair with no heels and they are sooo comfortable and versatile, I'm already thinking of buying another few pairs in different colors (maybe with heels?). And the best is that they keep my legs warm because they end where my coat begins - but I guess this isn't essential for you in that lovely climate:)

Funny you posted this...because after much deliberation I finally bought a pair just yesterday! I was afraid they wouldn't be comfortable to sit/move around in, but they're actually great. Perfect for cold Chicago winters :)
ReplyDeleteReally want a pair, but I have short legs and I am afraid that I would look like I have boots for legs.
ReplyDeleteeyelovecosmetics.blogspot.com
ok... now I'm convinced... I so want some of these!
ReplyDeleteWell, to be honest, my legs are too short and probably too big to wear over-the-knee boots. I don't think I'd be able to get them up to my knees, and if I did, they'd probably keep going all the way up to my butt!
ReplyDeleteHave fun wearing yours :-)
I am all about hooka boots!
ReplyDeleteI think it is all in the way they are worn. The ones you chose are def. my favorite. Good choice...I love the leather at the toe and heel...it's a good contrast!
ReplyDeleteI think they are not for me, but I adore them on other people! I'm sure you rock them hard! :D

You are completely right, they are totally chic when done right...I haven't pulled the trigger on "the pair" yet, but that might have something to do with living in PHX...(c; And besides, how fabulous was Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, anyways??? lol I am definitely not endorsing the mini with the over-the-knees...

I have a pair that coverts to slouchy, at the knee, or over the knee and they are great with tight skinnies or jeggings...and I say it that way too :) After watching True Blood and hearing one the characters Lafayette always say it like that, it makes me laugh!
ReplyDeleteYes I have a pair and I wear them all the time. Mine are flat so it's easier to wear them.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I'd TOTALLY get some! The ones you bought are hot!
ReplyDeleteI actually have a pair that are folded down below the knee, but you can flip the top of them up to be thigh-highs. I haven't had the courage to do it yet... maybe after I have this baby so I won't look so awkward, haha!
I think they look good as long as they are not paierd with a mini (kind of Hooka right?) But they are not my style, at least not yet ;)
ReplyDeleteI bought my first over the knee boots a month ago in Palm Desert and LOVE them! I bought a flat, light brown pair and wear them all the time. I worried I couldn't pull them off but they are really flattering. Great post, as always :-)
ReplyDeletei love my pair of OTK boots! my fav pairing is with a big chunky sweater!
ReplyDeletetotally yeah!! We just coming into summer here in Australia, but totally enjoying having knee high boots in summer!! love them so much!! :)
ReplyDeleteI adore over the knee boots! Lately I've been wearing OTK tights with knee high boots for a similar look. I'm sure the boots you purchased will look great!
ReplyDeleteHot! Love them. You definitely made the right decision!
ReplyDeleteLOVE my otk boots... but for me they have to be suede and a medium-low heel. anything too shiny or spiky borders on 'hooka' territory! but the right pair styled right is the epitome of cool.
ReplyDeletexoxo,
lesley
I really like the ones got. I would wear them but it seems like it would take me forever to get into one of them puppies. But, I guess it's like they say, "pain is beauty."
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love mine!!! I was really worried I wouldn't be able to pull them off, but decided to try it anyways. Whenever I wear them I always get compliments. Mine are flats, which I think are a good way to break into the look if you're someone who is a little worried about it at first.
ReplyDeleteI love over-the-knee boots and I have a pair of black suede ones with about 2.5 inch heels - they are beautiful and comfortable as well. I don't think they are hooka boots. As someone before me said - if you pair them with a very short mini - maybe they are hooka boots, but paaired with skinny pants or jeans - they are amazing and classic!
ReplyDeletejust got a pair myself(stuart weitzman-not too hookerish ;) my husband LOVES them too!
ReplyDeletecall me a hooka girl...HOOKA TAMARA...(YEP THATS ME) love these boots. I just feel sexy in thigh highs..and something tight on my legs..i think its my husbands fault..
ReplyDeleteTAMARA: HA! Your comment made me laugh....i often wonder, why do guys like these so much ? Hmmm
ReplyDeleteAnyway.....i am no into them :)))
I thought I don't like these long boots.... but when I saw this picture of the Juicy boots I was sold!!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Holland!
LOL at "Hooka"! I know the stigma attached to these boots, but stigma or no; They are not for me. The convertible ones that go from tall to short look nice though.
ReplyDeletei brought a pair just below the knee which is nice because i'm tall and a lot of my tall boots aren't' tall enough. the only person over 40 who has worn them convincingly is halle berry, so that's a factor for me, but it's also budget. i can't buy ever annual trend. I think tall boots will never play out, but these will by next season.
ReplyDeleteLINDSEY LOVE: I got them at Charles David store in L.A. :)
ReplyDeleteI HAVE to get a pair of these. I haven't gotten a pair of boots yet this winter so I think I'm going to get a pair. I think as long as you don't wear it with a mini skirt you won't look like a hooka too. =)

If I could get these over my calves, I am all about the Hooka!
