I find it interesting and quite revealing visiting a person's home for the first time. Often times you will see what they display, are the items they value most in life. But no matter what, one thing is certain, you will get a great feel for another person from the pictures that hang on their walls to the books they read. I found these photos a few months ago in Interior Design Magazine of rapper, Kanye West's home in California. I thought the artwork in his home really stood out and was totally unexpected.
Do you think the interior of a home can reveal a lot about a person?

Everything looks so clean and spare, except for the stuffed animals. They are all bright and overlapping and cuddily - the furniture is so cool-toned and calm. Interesting contrast.

He has as many white shoes as I have black! And I just love the stuffed animal chair. Too bad my dog would DESTROY that thing.

ReplyDeleteoh my!! I love the simplicity and fun, colorful elements. And that bathroom is to die for. The fish tank above the bathtub is fantastic and would make taking a bath even more heavenly.

ReplyDeleteI read somewhere that he's an artist himself, an interview or something can't recall where. Wonder if that's what motivates some of the choices in the rooms.

ReplyDeleteIt really opens up another side of him. I'd never have guessed he was so playful. And look at that vintage LV trunk! Good for him. Much more fun than the home I would have imagined he owned.

ReplyDeleteI really don't like the man but I am impressed with the look of his home. You're right, it is rather unexpected. It's like a big kid's home, I guess he is a big kid in a lot of ways.

i did a post on his home a few months ago too! i totally did not expect his home to look like this - very minimalistic...but it's really cool and i can totally see him in the space.

ReplyDeleteThe bathroom is just STUNNING....I don't think I've wanted a fish tank until now. haha Well maybe if i had that bathroom...other than that I wouldnt dish out money for something like that. Also I LOVE the chandelier in the bathroom, but I was told that a designer should NEVER place it over a bathtub....it DOES look like it is slightly over that tub no????
