Fashion: Ramy Brook

Hey Fashion lovers, here's a new shop I wanted to introduce you to called, Ramy Brook. They recently contacted me and introduced me to their collection. I fell in love with it! This company was founded in 2010 by Ramy Brook Sharp.  It's based out of NYC and offers a line of contemporary women's wear.  I love that almost every piece can be worn either day or night.  For example, the amazing Jessica Sweater ...(made from 100% Merino wool) that I'm wearing below.  I've worn it out for a coffee meeting as well as date night - it did not disappoint!  Looks fantastic & sooo soft.  This brand is great & I am now going to be keep an eye-out for all the new stuff they launch!

I've gathered a few more of my favorites below.  Check them all out here.

6 Stylish Fall Boots

With Fall soon approaching - we have a ton of COOL, fashionable boots to choose from.

Last year I bought a gorgeous leather pair, so unfortunately, I won't be shopping for boots this year. However, for those of YOU looking, I made your search a big easier & selected a few of my favorite styles you also might like!!

Remember.... these can be worn with skirts or skinny jeans. I prefer to wear mine with a pair of tight denim jeans. Let me know which ones suit you?

FALL MUST-HAVES

Fall is def my fave season.

With the HOT & HUMID temperature here in NYC lately, I cannot wait till it arrives. With the new seasons I usually tend to do a little shopping to update my wardrobe a bit. I also have the Better Homes & Gardens Stylemaker event to attend the middle of this month, and I still haven't figured out an outfit! I am SO picky that sometimes, I just end up wearing all black to make life easier. I have to say it's def easier to choose an outfit for an event or a night out when I'm blogging about it.... So, with that said, here are 3 I'm looking at right now.

Of course, I also added a new phone case....since my phone is in my hand often. BAD habit, I admit it.

Which do you like?

Have a great weekend!

DESIGN: New Fall Home Collections

With fall in full effect and so many new collections out on the shelves, I thought I would put together a group of my favorite fall pieces for 2014. I quickly jumped to Rebecca Atwood's website as a starting point because I have been dying over her new patterns for the fall, the colors are so muted and perfectly moody for the holiday season.

After bouncing around to my favorite sites, I quickly found that black/gray, white and gold color combination is still as relevant as ever. From serving trays to textiles, this combo makes simple designs sophisticated, elevated and proven to blend well with different styles.

Another trend that has surprised me with its staying power is natural texture.  Storage pieces, accessories and layers are all about a chunky knit or weave and keeping the material true to its natural form. Natural textures are the easiest way to add warmth and complexity to a space.

New FALL Wardrobe

As we get closer to Fall weather - we usually end up buying a few items to fit the season.

As for me,  I ended up picking this leather jacket from Zara which is versatile and super chic at the same time.  It's the type of jacket you can wear almost everyday with a pair of jeans. If you want to get away from your plain-Jane black boots, try these cow hair booties by Matisse via Revolve. These will DEF give you a fashionable appearance!

Will you be shopping for a FALL wardrobe?

FOOD: SPICY PUMPKIN SOUP

Hello... Fallon of Sage + Sparkle here this Monday morning & I'm so excited to share a pumpkin soup recipe with you! You see, I love pumpkin... okay, I'm obsessed.  Every year, for the past four years (this is my first year blogging about it) I have done "12 Weeks of Pumpkin", where I make a new pumpkin dish weekly, starting in September, ending after Thanksgiving!  With Halloween coming up - it also seemed quite appropriate!

I like to do a mix of sweet and savory dishes and today I want to share with you one of my favorite savory options, one that has a little bit of kick. Fall is the perfect time for soup, and what better way to enjoy a soup, than with pumpkin.  What I love about soup, is that it's the perfect thing to make and then freeze and have yummy little lunches to take with you to work our enjoy on a night when your crunched for time.  This soup is hearty, healthy, and delicious... and super easy to make.  Give it a try and please, be sure to let me know how you like it.

DIY: Rockstar Pumpkin

I posted this cute little Rockstar Pumpkin on my Instagram not long ago & it got a lot of great feedback! So I thought, why not turn this into a little DIY feature? It's so easy.

Pumpkin decorating is essential for Fall – it's a great accessory to keep around the house, whether at a desk or a dinner setting during the Holidays. The best part is, you can't do it wrong! You can decorate your pumpkin however YOU want! So, if you're inspired by my Rockstar Pumpkin, and want to give it a shot – I've prepared some easy-to-follow instructions:

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
  • Pumpkin – I used a 5" one, but the size is completely up to you!
  • White acrylic paint – I used Liquitex® Basics from Michael's
  • Foam Brush – you can find a similar brush that I used here
  • Golden Pyramid Brass Studs – I used these 3/8" studs, but sizes vary!
  • A sheet or old fabric you don't mind getting paint on!

HOW TO ROCKSTAR PUMPKIN:
  • Begin by simply painting your pumpkin in its entirety. I chose white because I like how the white and golden studs looked together, but you can choose whatever color speaks to you!

The size of your brush should depend on the size of your pumpkin. The bigger the pumpkin, the bigger the brush should probably be to make the process easier. A smaller brush should be used around the bottom of the stem to avoid getting any paint on it. Careful – that area is tricky!

  • I'd suggest 3 coats of paint but wait a few hours in between in each. After the paint on your pumpkin has dried, it's time to apply the studs! I used the Medium 3/8" studs, but you can choose whichever size you'd like. If you want a more "flashy" pumpkin, you can go ahead with bigger studs!
  • Push in the studs wherever you'd like. I scattered mine around the circumference of the pumpkin – play around and see as you go to decide whether you want more or less. You can also arrange the studs to spell out a word or create a shape!

  • Ta da! You have your pumpkin!! Use it to add a touch of fun to your desk like I did, or display it on the table at your next dinner party. Enjoy.

Maybe next time I'll try adding a mohawk. Ha.

The Hottest Boots For Fall

Hello Monday! Hope you all are doing well! As for me, today I'm prepping a few canvases for some new Cocoa & Hearts  paintings, can't wait to show you! Many of you have been asking - so stay tuned!

On another note - aren't you glad it's Fall?!!?  I am. Today is the perfect weather here in NYC & that means it's boot season.  So, if you're tired of the pair you have - I pulled together a selection of boots you may want to invest money into. As for me, I recently bought the Jimmy Choo Gem boots - they were a bit pricey, in fact I don't think I've dropped that much 'dinero' on some boots - so hopefully I'll still love them next Fall.

I figure with a classic black boot - you can't go wrong. You can pair them up with anything from skinny jeans to leather skirts.  Are Fall boots on your must-buy list?

Mackage

This past Christmas I bought myself a nice jacket.  I had originally wanted this one by Helmet Lang, but after trying it on, I knew it WASN'T FOR ME. It was gorgeous, but somehow I felt ODD walking around with HAIR ON MY BACK. Well, on the back of the coat that is...

So, after returning it - I decided to walk over to Mackage in Soho after church & BAM!!! There it was, the perfect jacket. If you scroll down, you'll see it in black, but I'm actually wearing the camel- colored style in the picture. The fit is awesome - and although it won't be warm enough for the freezing cold winter weather, it will be perfect for fall. Also, I saved a ton of money.

Mackage is currently one of my favorite go to brands for coats. It's a luxury brand offering trenches, coats & downs for both women & men. If you're visiting NYC or you live here - you have to hit the store, it's a gorgeous minimalist looking boutique situated in SOHO.

So, what do you think? Is Mackage a brand you could easily get into??

See you Monday!

10 Booties for Fall

Hey - have you all noticed that SO MANY of the Fall booties have prints on them!?? Hmmm new trend perhaps!!??

Could be, and I'm LOVING this! I'd have to say my favorite is A. - of course, I know I may NOT get past 6 NYC blocks in these, but they sure would make for a nice entrance to a party. My assistant chose F. as her fave - I can see why, those are super cute, I like the printed hair calf look!

Which do you like best? Are you a more refined or rugged kind of gal?

Design: Fall Decor

There's no doubt about it, Fall is here, and I couldn't be happier! Hello everyone, it's Katie from H2 Design. Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. In addition to the colder nights & crisper air, we get to be enveloped by the warmth of vintage fall jewel tones and cozy textures.

I just couldn't help but pull together some of my favorite interior pieces illustrating this welcoming fall trend. It makes you want to brew some warm tea and curl up in front of the fire with a good book (or in my case, the latest home decor magazine)!

What are you looking forward to this season?
