Books should be illegal. Well, not really. I just LOVE them too much and my pocket book suffers at times because of it!
I have a book FETISH & I love it. Any of you out there feel the same way?!?!
Books are OBVIOUSLY great to read & they even serve another purpose....DECOR.
If you want to add some interest to your coffee table, just stack a few books. But remember, choose your books wisely.
An UGLY book cover can really mess up the overall look of your coffee table. For instance, I'm NOT crazy about the "Rooms for children' book on my coffee table - note to myself "MUST REMOVE SOON"
Lately, I've been CRAVING these 7 titles (actually, I already own #6) .....however, if I were to choose from my list below to add to your coffee table, I'd choose number 2, 4, 5 & 6.
So, I'm curious....do you also have a book fetish??

I have to admit - I LOVE books too :) - It's an addiction - i am always wanting "just one more" - I LOVE your Paris book on the table, there...must get that...
ReplyDeleteI LOVE BOOKS TOO! i like fashion and decor books but I love novels ...from Paolo Coehlo, Isabel Allende and many many moreeee... Book addiction yes!
ReplyDeleteYES! I have a book fetish. We just moved to a new city for my job; I'm pretty sure the movers hated me for all the books they had to carry. I made side tables out of mine! :)
ReplyDeleteYESS! I love books and magazines, I can't wait to have a bigger house where I can have a library room :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I have an addiction. My bookshelf is very carefully arranged to be pleasing to the eye as well as carry pieces of my heart.
ReplyDeletePlease love this: http://bookshelfporn.com/ (don't just a link by it's name)
i seriously need to buy more books for decor! my apartment is just missing all those little details and accessories! i just ordered the fashion book and i found vintage brass gazelle book ends (like the one you have in all your coco&hearts pictures!!) you inspire me all the time!! plus i just finished framing my LOVE print from your shop& i will email you a pic when its hung up! where can i buy the "world art" book that you have on your coffee table?
ReplyDeleteJust bought #1 for my daughter for Christmas - they have it at Anthropologie!:) - there is also an amazing childrens book about Audrey Hepburn!
ReplyDeleteJARA: great choice..i thought that was a great one for kids too!
ReplyDeleteI noticed your great use of books a year or two ago, actually, on the trunk/coffee table in front of your french provincial sofa! They do look great, all those colors and everything...
ReplyDeleteI agree, they do tend to make a dent in the "budget" quite often.
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks so much for the reminder -- I need to place an Amazon order.
ReplyDeleteHow I wish I lived in a city full of bookstores. I would never get anything done (except reading). And that would be ok with me!
Yes, I do, but my husband? he buys books for...brace yourself...1 cent at amazon.com!!! not kidding - I also look for used titles to save some $$$ when buying design books. I recently bought a book about Tracy Porter and design in Seaside, FL for less than half the cost. You have to check out the reviews on amazon, but they are in perfect condition. Check it out! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI too have a book fetish. Can't get enough of them...have then in every room of my house and in my office at home. :)
ReplyDeleteFor me there is nothing like the smell of a new book when you first open the packaging and that no one else has touched.

would love to know what the giant paris book is!
ReplyDeleteI really love to read and some books I just but because I love the covers!
ReplyDeleteHow funny, I recently discovered the "My Wonderful World Of Fashion" book a few months ago at Anthro. I'm thinking of using it as a starting point to decorate my daughter's new bedroom. LOVE books too!! The way you used them to decorate looks so swank and cool. ;)
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem!! I love them..
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! Assouline in The Plaza in NYC is one of my happy places - so many beautiful books so artfully arranged! One kings lane is currently having a pretty good sale on coffee table books - might be worth a peek if you're looking for a new one!
ReplyDeleteJERELL: the Paris book is by Assouline. I found it here at:
ReplyDeleteAlibris.com
I have to admit I love books as well but they are much better as decor! :)
ReplyDeleteI recently bought a collection of architecture books that I'm positively enamored with. For me, there's nothing quite like a good art or architecture book, because the materiality of a book is something that matters. I can read facts from a screen, but photos have to be held.
ReplyDeleteAh yes...I LOVE books...actually started getting a little expensive for me for a period (was obsessed with them). I have #6 too...oh but I want that YSL book. Have you seen the Tricia Guild: Colors, Patterns, and Space book yet? It's absolutely gorgeous...and looks beautiful on a coffe table. Books=coziness and warmth in a home :-)
ReplyDeleteI have SO been wanting the pink YSL book !!

Yes! I have a huuuuge book fetish. And do you know what? There a much more cooler books in the US than in Germany. At every US trip my luggage is overweight because of all the awesome books I bought there. But well, as a grafic design addict you can also find good deals over here. Last week a huge package arrived ;)

I have the biggest book fetish!! for COOKBOOKS! but these are all lovely and they look so pretty! xx-Jackie
ReplyDeleteI love books. I even worked at a book store when I was a student just to be around books. My favourite "picture" book is An Inner Silence: The Portraits of Henri Cartier-Bresson :)
ReplyDelete-Kirsti
Yes! And I take all the covers off to reveal the beautiful nakedness of the book and they look so much better on the shelf ....
ReplyDeleteYes, I totally have a book fetish too! Lovely living room!

I love books too! My latest thing is finding cool hard covered books at thrift stores...last week I found a book on Edgar Degas and a home decor book from 1965 both for $1.99 a piece! Plus the thrill of the hunt is half the fun :)
ReplyDeleteI think I just may have the same book fetish as you!! Every time I return one book to the library I come back home with at least two! :P And Chapters (CDN version of B&N) is like crack to me. I rarely leave without making a purchase!
ReplyDeleteI have a book fetish, as well, for only the beautiful covers, of course! If it's not a well designed cover, I'd rather just check it out at the library. ha! I'm sounding a bit superficial now. It's like I just used a book. But I'll only display those beauty of a books! ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, my name is Tamra and I've recently given in to my book fetish addiction. It's become a problem on the wallet. Coffee table books are my go to. x
ReplyDeleteI can't say I have a book fetish, but I certainly think they say a lot about a person, so I indulge. I feel they are a great investment - in brainpower and style. So, if that's your worst vice, I think you're A-OK! ;)
ReplyDeleteSometimes you have to judge a book by its cover! Definitely love your choices and the ones you're coveting. I need to buy some interesting books, cause all I have right now are a ton of magazines!
ReplyDeletei love your coffee table - where did you get it? thanks!! :)
ReplyDeleteI have #2, #4 and #7. I've been dying to know what that giant PARIS book is on your table?! One coffee table book all my guests seem to love, and they all open, is On The Beach photography by Richard Misrach http://amzn.com/1597110485 It's really beautiful. Children love it too!
ReplyDeleteYes I love books too! And did a post just like this a few weeks ago! xoxo

sometimes you may find it on Ebay too...!
KIM HAMBRIC: I have the same wish - there's a shortage of great bookstores here in town too...thats why i order most of mine online!
ReplyDeleteTotally! I have to admit. I'm a fussy person to buy for so i often ask for books as presents...never disappointed with a new coffee table beauty!
ReplyDeleteJenn, there is a word for this: Bibliophile but I don't like this word because it sounds rather creepy hahaha but yes, I too have a fetish for books (and magazines and images). I hate to admit this but I do not have a coffee table in my living room (I know, I know the horror!) but I'm looking for THE RIGHT ONE just so I can display books on it. ;0) I love your decor and your books are fabulous. Thanks for sharing!

I agree... I love books and anything fashion, design, or decor related is even better! Great source of inspiration and they usually have really cool covers. JB.
