I'm having family over at the end of February & I really need to get the main guest bedroom (I have two) ready!!
Ready meaning, it needs to look appealing. I CAN'T STAND having guests over & having them sleep in a DUMPY ROOM...I want them to feel as comfortable as possible and make the space as aesthetically pleasing as I can.

I'm going for a somewhat GLAM look, something pretty but STILL unisex. I've been scavenging the internet for inspiration, and I love Spanish sites like Nuevo Estilo, they have a ton of large photos for readers to look through! I selected these to get me started.....
So, are you re-doing a room in your home? Where do you find inspiration?? I'd love to hear from you!
I find most of my inspiration on the internet - that way I'm not limited at all, I can be everywhere & anywhere :)The book stand with the Helmut Newton is amazing - how chic!
ReplyDeleteI really need to re-do my sons nursery. I couldn't finish it before he arrived becuz I was sick and the space has been blah ever since.
ReplyDeleteso so so great! Love these interiors! Inspiring for me also!!!
ReplyDeleteWow. That 3rd image is perfect for me. Love the feature wall. Love the artwork. Love the couch. (would prob drop the 2 x black glossy chairs though).
ReplyDeleteMust go now and search the site for more inspiring pics.
Have fun when the family arrive (-:
absoulety beautiful decors!
ReplyDeleteI hear you sister! I've got friends arriving tomorrow for 5 days and ALL the furniture we ordered for the guest bedroom has been delayed because of the Queensland floods - and won't arrive until after they've arrived (and in some cases gone)... I'm shattered. Oh well, at least I've got brand new bedding and towels and soaps and candles to spruce up the room...
ReplyDeleteGreat inspiration photos by the way. Oh and I would search Elle Decor website and Pinterest for inspiration :)
the chair in the second to last picture is insane!

Great rooms! Love the first photo!! Guest rooms should be comfy and inviting, but not too inviting because you're guests will never leave haha
ReplyDeleteI love the headboard in the first pic!!!
ReplyDeletelove love love the top room! so cozy yet pretty!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous inspiration Jen- what strikes me most about all of these pictures is the gorgeous furnishings- each space has an unusual and interesting piece of furniture- also love all of the graphic artwork.
ReplyDeleteThat huge circular wall art, such a statement!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, where can I find a lampshade and a table like that!

I usually use Pinterest, Houzz, decor magazines (Canadian House & Home is my favorite!) and of course my favorite blogs. :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes I've got an absolute glut of inspiration going on. ;) But I always say I'd rather have too much than too little!
I'm also re-doing my guest bedroom. I splurged on some grey silk drapery panels on sale from Z Gallerie. Now I just need to hang them!
ReplyDeleteOMG Im dying for that metallic headboard... hmmmmm DIY project?? Yes I think we shall!
ReplyDeleteYou've chosen great inspirational pics...and I'm sure your rooms will be as beautiful as the other rooms you've designed in your new home. I am a huge proponent of adding authentic art in every space...having minored in Art History...and you're taste in art not only goes perfectly with your design sense, but I also love that you create many of your own pieces. I can't wait to see what you create.
ReplyDeleteWowza! I love all of those pics! If that's your inspiration then I CAN NOT wait to see the finished product!
ReplyDeleteThose are amazing! We live in a one bedroom apartment but in my fantasy world where I have an extra bedroom, I would love to fill it with little things that my guests could use. Whether they books, games, etc. Things they'd never thing to get for themselves!
ReplyDeleteAlthough, if I had a guest room, it would probably end up being a catch-all room for my junk (and I'm an Interior Designer, I should know better ;).
I love the next to last photo the best. There's something about a colorful abstract that can really make a room.
ReplyDeletei wish i had a new house to decorate...
ReplyDeletei get a lot of inspiration from YOU! made by girl is a daily read for me :))))
I love that black wall in the first photo! So glam, if there was enough light in my guest room I would totally do it!
ReplyDeleteNancy xo
I love to look through photos of period style rooms in museums and heritage homes. I take the perfect proportions and color schemes and modernize them. They knew a thing or two about design back then.

I agree with all of these comments. The easiest place to find inspiration is from searching the internet. The main sites I go to are: http://wildflowerorganics.com and http://www.anthropologie.com! By the way...love the first photos headboard...if you find it let me know!
ReplyDeleteThanks!

BRITTANY: Good point haha
ReplyDeleteoh.. use number three for your spare room art inspiration, it would play off your other new work.. have a great weekend Jen, x
ReplyDeleteEverywhere!! My step brother is an interior designer in LA, but I live in DC so he suggested I make an inspiration board. I started with a picture of the couch I wanted, then added color swatches, accents, etc. and started buying things little by little. My decor is always revolving, so I will never be done...Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHi Jen,
ReplyDeleteI found inspiration in casa.com.br. It's a brazilian site
full of beautiful ideas. There you can find CASA CLAUDIA a decor magazine in which DEC /10 issue
depicted a master room with leopard print pillows,
aubergin wall (a good alternative for black) and a side lamp in yellow and floral besides touches of gray in the bed linen.
I hope you enjoy the site besides it's in portugues...
Best wishes,
Diane Isabelle

Hundreds of Norwegian interiorbloggers show you their own home and their inspiration.
I've been clipping magazines for years showing furniture, paint colors, textiles that I love. I filed them away and when hubby and I purchased our dream home (or at least it will be when we're finished with it), I had a whole file full of inspirational room ideas.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE these pics- I have been gathering inspiration for our guest room- this helps so much!

I absolutely love the bed in the first picture!! I have recently taken on upholstering like there is no tomorrow and my goal is a headboard similar to this one!!
ReplyDeleteinspiration for me comes mostly from great blogs, but also the uk and aus magazines. Living etc. is great as is Vogue Living Aus.
I am popping by this morning to tag you with a stylish blogger award! I've recently been tagged and am now tagging those whose blogs I love!!

I just love that wall painting! The movement in it is great, and so is the scale.
