Mary Magdalene Charity Design Project

Generosity is the quality my husband says he finds most attractive about me. I enjoy giving & helping those in need whenever the opportunity arises.  I also like hearing about people who take time to give back & lend a hand to those who are less fortunate. 




Designer, Vanessa De Vargas has done just that with her most recent design charity for the Mary Magdalene Project. She was brought onto this project by Hartman House - a non profit company who rehabs homes in the US & in other countries.


Looking for local charities to help they reached out to the Mary Magdalene project, which is a safe home for women who are victims of sex trafficking in L.A.




The home needed a major redo - everything was OLD. Hartman House brought Vanessa in to do this project.  She, along with Jordan Cappella, completed the decor in just 4 days! Several vendors came in with donations & this was the result of their work! I can imagine this put a SMILE on so many of the women's faces.

Fashion: Mixing Prints

Hello again MBG readers! It's Lauren, and today I thought I would bring you some styling advice on how to properly mix prints! Mixing prints can seem a little bit daunting. I know I used to be extremely hesitant when it came to pairing bold prints like leopard and floral. I mean, talk about breaking any type of conventional styling rules! 

Mixing prints started to become all the rage when the major powerhouse, J. Crew started debuting styled looks that featured combinations of gingham + paisleys, graphic prints + stripes, stripes + polka dots, and many more daring combinations. And then there is Blair Eadie, the queen of print mixing - made famous for pairing double polka dots and chevron with floral. {Who would have thought to ever pair the two?!}

Fashion houses and bloggers have broken down any timidness us ladies had about mixing prints. Something so unconventional has turned into something that just works. Here are my 6 tips to remember when mixing prints.

Designer: Jordan Carlyle

Hello Monday morning! I happen to adore Interior Design. Even though I'm no designer, I think I can hold my own. If money math weren't a requirement, I probably would've become an Interior designer. It's true, I suck at Math. These days, I'd rather just look at Interior Design online & in mags.

In fact, that's how I learned all about Jordan Carlyle's work for the first time. He emailed me introducing himself. Where had I been that I hadn't seen this amazing designer??  + he's handsome!

Enough about his looks, we know he doesn't really need them because his work speaks for itself. Ok, maybe looks help a bit, but just look at the pictures below. The first few photos are of his pad in NYC - from his choice of art, to the black bookshelf to that black & white sofa (which is part of his furniture collection fyi) - I love it all!

I'm not sure how much the sofa is his collection goes for, but if one day I'm able to splurge - something similar is what I'd want for my next sofa. Amazing.


I wonder if that's the Jonathan Adler wallpaper in his office below??





Jordan's Interior work can be seen in all the photos below - every space seems to be carefully crafted and though out. He's definitely a designer to watch out for - if you haven't heard of him yet. 










Jordan also has a collection of Fine Art, of which these two are some of my favorites!You may recognize the George Washington one if you've shopped at CB2.

Fashion: Chic PUP

Hello everyone, aren't we all glad Friday is here? 

Especially after the 4th of July festivities! I'm here to talk about how you can add some chic to your pup. There used to be this adorable dog boutique up the street from me but, sadly, they closed over a year ago. And ever since I've had a tough time finding collars and harness for my pup that aren't super cheesy! 

Call me crazy, but I have love finding cute little collars and collar with bows (like this one--the bows look cute on girls too!) for the little one in my life--she deserves to be stylish too, right?! I've been browsing though and i've definitely found s few great ones!! Which do you think would look the best on my little?

Peek into Jonathan Adler's NYC Office

Hope you all had a great 4th!! Mine was a blast, even though we didn't see fireworks...

Anyhow, last week I was invited to the Jonathan Adler's office here in NYC & finally met the man himself. I remember how much of an inspiration he was for me when I first started my business....  I've always been attracted to his design aesthetic & even have his Meurice lamp in my apartment, it's even lovelier in person by the way! The place was huge - with an entire showroom & all employees were allowed to bring their little doggies to work, how cute!


On another note, Jonathan recently finished a collaboration with Pepsi on these cute red, white & blue biodegradable straws... you can actually see them in this post! They ended up giving me a pack, which I used for my 4th of July dinner party. I'll post those pics soon too!
