DESIGN: SASHA BIKOFF

Hey everyone! How are you? It's been raining in New York City today. On rainy days I feel like I could use a bit of color inspiration! I'm sure you could do too... whether it's rainy where you are or not!  I'd like to introduce Sasha Bikoff, she's a young designer whose edgy style is really impressive in today's design scene.  She's known for her bright colors & playful style.

Her unique take on design reminds me of a Barbie's playhouse - with bright colored objects and often times touches of hot pink!  She's only 26 years old & has already been featured on countless blogs... most recently a great spread in Lonny Mag you must see here! These pics will get you started, but def head over to Lonny for more inspiration by this designer.

DESIGN: STOOLS in DESIGN

Hi MBG's, it's Stasia with Primp & Prime. Living in a small space, I am always hunting for pieces that are versatile. I am completely obsessed with poufs and stools. Not only are they fabulous, they can be an extra seat for guests, or transition into a side table. Here are my favorite picks.

DESIGN: Mix & Match

Hi everyone, its Lisa from Gem Daily with another obsession of mine: dining rooms. I just love how they are much more casual and personal these days and everyone is straying away from the stuffy, traditional dining rooms that we all grew up in. Dining rooms are the most perfect way to bring in a statement lighting fixture piece, a classic table and unique seating; all are investments but that doesn't mean they can't have a bit of an edge!

Check out some dining rooms I've been coveting lately and funky pieces I've been dying to mix and match!

My Home, My Space

What is your favorite area in your home and why?

Hey! Laura here, sharing my favorite space with you! I decorated it for my sister and we both couldn't have been happier with the result! We had a really modest budget so I had to make sure we made each penny count! Luckily my sister totally trusted me to come up with anything, and knowing her she loves anything be achy and feminine, so I was inspired to create a space that reflected just that.

Our jump of point was the vintage faux bamboo bar cart, I found it at a thrift shop and new it had to be in her life! The space is about 500sq Ft, what it lacks in size it makes up in amazing natural lighting. We really wanted to play up the the whole beach vibe(without being to literal). I chose light shades of blues, and jades, some pale pink and lots of brass and gold. The sofa is from IKEA, the lamp and coffee table are thrifted.

The desk lamp is from Indigo, and the turquoise lamp on the side table is from HomeSense (Home Goods). Since we were working on a small budget and Ikea was a big part of that, I really didn't want it to look like every other apartment decorated with the same pieces. We thrift often, and go to vintage markets a lot to find unique pieces.

This place is super cozy, and everyone always remarks of how bright and feminine it feels! I think we achieved out goal for sure, and all for under $1500.

Online Magazines - Are they inspiring you?

When it comes to seeking out inspiration -one thing I always look forward to is online magazines. The latest issues of Lonny Magazine & Adore Home Mag are some of my favorite issues! You can get a sneak peek of both below!

Displaying homes from New York city to Australia - both are equally engaging & completely inspiring! I swear, I feel like re-decorating after I finish looking through these issues! But, we merely moved into this place and that just ISN'T happening!

On a side note, I wish these online mags would devote an issue to more AFFORDABLE SPACES - so that the pages don't just serve as inspiration but would be attainable to most people. Make sense???

Do these online magazines inspire you? Do you feel they should feature more affordable spaces sometimes?

Design: Brass + Beige

Hi lovely MBG readers! Amanda here today, with a look into two of this year's home decor trends - brass and beige. As we know that emerald green has made its statement in home decor, the beige trend predicted by Elle Decor was a surprise as beige can be bland and boring. But it is in for the Spring and far from boring when paired with bolder hues (perfect with emerald!) and mixed with textures.

The resurgence of brass metal on the other hand is the hot finish for lighting fixtures, furniture and hardware. But it's not the brass we hated. Whether it's polished, antiqued, or hammered, brass is back more refined and with a different kind of finish.

Decor: Soft Glamour

Hi everyone! It's Amanda. I was so inspired by Jen's NYC closet awhile back I thought I'd style a room with a soft glamour feel. I'm sure I speak for most when I say, I wish I had a huge walk-in closet!

Lucky for those that do! But if you have that extra space.. what better way to add all your favorite pinks, blush and peach tones in a single dream room! (especially when you don't live alone) It's like the perfect girl cave - only extra chic.

Earlier this year I met Naomi from Design Manifest blog. I've been a fan of her work ever since I discovered it online a few years ago! She has a fantastic design aesthetic & one of my favorites! Today she sent a sneak peek into her latest work - where she reveals the gorgeous spaces she designed for clients.

I should be so LUCKY to get a little DESIGN advice from her on my next place! Right???

Here are samples of her most recent work, you can actually see the before & after pictures on her blog! Also, check out her blog tomorrow for the final reveal of the living room!
