Design: Graduation Gift Ideas

Hi MadebyGirl readers!  Sam here, from The Peak of Tres Chic, back for another decor post.  Lately my inbox has been full of graduation announcements and party invitations, which makes me reminisce on my own post-undergrad days.

I remember being so excited to decorate my first apartment in the city, but also clueless about where to start!  Luckily, there are so many cute and affordable decor options out there for the new apartment dweller.  Here are a few of my favorites:

A bit of MadeByGirl news

A few things - we've updated the homepage of MadeByGirl for the Holidays! There are several cute pics, check them out when you can. Also, thanks to Kelly from Fabulous K for the zebra paper inspiration - we had to add it onto our page as well!

Funny story, I walked into Paper Source (where I bought it from) & the girls at the counter were excited to meet me, telling me they read my blog! Too cute!

Paper Source is awesome, I've been using their wrapping paper for Holiday gifts for a couple years now. LOOOOOOOOVE them!

If you don't have a paper source in your town, I'm crying for you now. Check them out online.

MadeByGirl has also been featured in several Holiday gift guides this year, I can barely keep up! I'm super grateful to all the editors!! Here are a few I didn't highlight yet that you should def check out!

DON'T FORGET!! If you're going to order in time for Christmas - you have to order by December 16th (USA) - unfortunately the deadline for overseas past on the 12th. Happy shopping!

We'll be adding some new items to MadeByGirl
in the new year - stay tuned!

And last but not least - it was cool to be able to gift a few prints to the gals over at Blogshop
Thank you for the cute pics ladies!

fibi & clo

Wow it's Thursday. This week has flown by no???

In fact, we are already getting close to my Birthday - mid August. On another note, today I received some wedges from Fibi & Clo & I couldn't help but think how much these reminded me of my beautiful mom. My mom LOVES wedges!

Fibi and Clo has a pretty good variety of sandals & wedges that can be worn casually and even to a nice event.  I mean, look at the cute B-L-I-N-G on the Capri wedges I'm wearing in this post, nice huh? None of the shoes in their collection are too high, which should make them pretty comfortable to walk in!

My mom loves a little bit of JEWELS on her shoes & these are perfect!! So, today she is dropping by & I'm going to give them to her as a SURPRISE!!

Feel free to check out the rest of the fibi & clo collection!

You can get yours here. Also available in other colors!

Gift From Brooklyn Thread...(Via Made by Girl)

I received a gift today from Joanna, designer & owner of Brooklyn Thread. An online jewelry shop that sells a ton of super cute jewelry. Anything from hand knotted bracelets to Yoga Jewelry!  A few weeks back, I blogged about Joanna's stuff & she was nice enough to send me this Onyx Stone Horn Necklace ......which I had my eye on for WEEKS!

I'm wearing the PIECE as I type....! WOW....so pretty.

The necklace has a dark black horn that hangs from a double layered 14k gold filled chain & it looks super chic!  It's NOW one of my favorite pieces in my collection. I'm truly grateful when a reader or a shop sends a gift my way, so thank you so much Joanna!

The Color PINK...(Via Made By Girl)

Welcome back everyone! How's your day going so far??

Things are pretty good over here.... minus the SUPER windy weather! My Goodness! Anyway, I haven't been out of the house today except to walk my dogs...I feel a bit housebound!  When I'm at home & start to feel BORED I begin to imagine what kind of projects I could tackle. Whether it's design related or not....it's a strange form of inspiration... boredom....ever FEEL that feeling!? Inspired out of boredom?! I know I do.

Well, today I started thinking of the color pink & how it's inspired me throughout my own life. Ever since I was a little girl, Pink was was one of my favorite colors. These days I gravitate toward this color in all different shades from coral to magenta. In fact, most of the paintings from my upcoming Cocoa & Hearts shop include different variations of pinks!

How do you feel about the color PINK? Is it in your top favorite colors?
