I love getting home tours emailed to me. Although I don't pick them all, the one's I do choose, I really like! This one was pretty neat as it came in from Meredith who authors a blog called, Meredith & Gwyneth, the New Yorkie. She also happens to be a fellow New Yorker (love saying that) who lives in a cozy apartment here in Manhattan! She moved to NYC from NC with her Yorkie less than a year ago & has been busy decorating her 470 square apartment.
At the time she started her decorating journey, she didn't have much of an income, but made the best of it by seeking out any interesting finds she could, including a night table she found in a dumpster on west 30th street! She blogs about this here.

She originally started blogging because she thought changing her environment & outlook was a story that might inspire others. After seeing her place, I knew it would definitely inspire many New Yorkers living in a small apartment looking to make it a home.
One of my favorite decor DIY projects Meredith worked on was her front door - she painted it pink, which she blogs about in this post.

Are you currently trying to make a small space your own?? Do you find it challenging??
Oh, love it...thanks for the inspiration. I have a tiny place too that I am in the process of re-decorating...we have a dog too, so it's nice to see a beautiful apartment where you are not afraid of using whites and beautiful fabrics. And I loved seeing those anthropology plates displayed on the wall...I have the bug and bee one. Nicely done. XoXo
ReplyDeleteI love seeing how to decorate small spaces!

It is absolutely darling. I love it!
ReplyDeleteLove Meredith's home. That pink door is too fabulous. Eek!
ReplyDeleteI downsized from having my own apartment to sharing a two bedroom apt with a fried. Getting rid of my beloved belongings was hard, but it's also refreshing to purge and live with less!

ReplyDeleteShe is one of my all-time favorites! Her new Anthro inspired chair makeover is amazing...oh my, I can't wait till it's finished!
ReplyDeleteThe pink walls/door are just amazing. And I really love the dishes decorating the wall in one of the pictures - reminds me of how my mom used to decorate her kitchen :)
ReplyDeleteMISS RUBIO: Of course! I was also very inspired by Meredith's place, being that i have a dog too, and never seems like enough space.
ReplyDeleteTHE PRINCESS WISHLIST: Yea, it would be tough to pull this off if you have a guy who isn't fond of pink...ha!

ReplyDeleteSHERI ANN: Yea, this apt is ideal for those looking at small spaces here in the city. Space is a luxury here, so when someone can put it together as cute as she has, it's always nice to see!
ReplyDeleteJAMIE: I agree! wish I had the guts to paint my door black, but i really dont feel like covering it back to white- it would take about 3-4 coats i bet! Pink I imagine would be easier to bring back to white after move-out.
ReplyDeleteGwyneth and I want to give every single one of you a hug! Thank you so much for making our day with your comments. And for expanding our reading list - we can't wait to check out all your blogs! And Jen, we are so honored to be included on Made by Girl. Thank you for being a part of what makes NYC feel like home.

Omg! I love this!
ReplyDeleteI have a problem making my apt in NYC feel like home, but I think it's partly because I move every year so never really want to invest in making a place nicer. Sad! Can't wait for a grown up home ;)
Great job in designing her space. The pink door is awesome! So not NYC! Love it.
ReplyDeleteMeredith - this is so cute! You did such a fabulous job. Its fun to see a small space designed well. Those plates on the wall, the gold elephant, and the pink door - all so great!

ReplyDeleteThis post was inspiring because she made it all work with the money she had. Nothing too fancy or expensive, except certain essentials I'm sure, but everything really does look great! I hope one day I can move to NYC and decorate my apartment nicely, but I need the money first. At least this give me hope :) Thanks for introducing her blog!
