Wooden Watches from Jord

Lately I haven’t worn a lot of jewelry so anytime I do, I want it to be unique, so when I saw these wood watches from Jord, it was something I needed to try.

So, Jord sent over my 1st choice, the Cora wood with a rose gold face, which is different than what I’d usually wear. Koa is a rich, toned wood from Hawaii and it’s particularly good with my skin tone. I thought at first that the band might feel bulky but it’s surprisingly light and actually feels really good on my skin.

The rose gold face, which isn’t a color tone I’d normally choose, fits really well with the Cora. The Swarovski crystal give it a little extra luxurious edge.

The fun part of trying out something that I normally wouldn’t wear is figuring out what outfits I can wear it with. I found that this watch works really well when you just want something off-the-wall and unexpected. While everyone is sporting either basic silver or gold, or one of the new smartwatches, I can show off my own style with this fashionable watch.

How genius is this packaging? ...comes in an all wooden box too!

Phone + Watch Review & Giveaway: #LiveUnlocked

Giveaway now closed, see THE WINNER below...

I was one of the CRAZY people who stood in line for hours when the iPhone first came out. Remember that? Well, these days smart phones are everywhere, but not all of them are worth the investment.

To be honest, I usually don't write about technology but when Alcatel asked me to try out their new Idol 3 phone + wrist watch combo.... I was curious how it would compare to my iPhone.  On that note,  one LUCKY reader will also get to try & KEEP this phone + watch combo. - Cool right??
Details at the bottom.

I've had an iPhone since they first came out and yes, I love them.  The Idol 3 by Alcatel is fairly new and it has lots of features. The phone comes unlocked for just $249 so it's much cheaper than an iPhone and can run on a lot of carriers.

The Alcatel phone is BIG compared to my iPhone 5c, which is the right size for my hands (it's why I never upgraded).  The power and volume buttons are in bad positions but the phone feels nice in your hand. It's thin and doesn't weigh too much either.

BEST feature - the phone can be used in either direction. There's a mic & speaker on both ends and the screen flips over correctly no matter how you hold it.  The screen is amazingly bright & CRISP and you can still see it in bright daylight!

For me, the camera on phones is super important & the Idol has a really good one!  There's a 13MP on the back and an 8MP on the front (iPhone 5 has 8MP back & 1.2MP front).  The resolution is great!  The color is a little bluish (nothing a good Instagram filter wouldn’t fix).  The only real complaint about the camera is that it doesn’t shoot very well when it starts to get dark.

The watch is nice - simple & easy to control. There's only 16 basic functions so it's not like the Apple Watch. My husband tried it out for a few days and said it's really convenient for controlling music and getting notifications when he's on the subway or in meetings. The watch works with any Android or iPhone & is also super crisp.

So if you’re looking for a solid Android phone that doesn't cost a ton $$$$ , this is the one.  It’s not an iPhone but the Idol 3 definitely has features I wish were on mine.  Mat says it performs way better than the ZTE Overture 2 he uses – faster, better resolution, more memory.

Now, the GIVEAWAY:

THE PRIZE:
One (unlocked) Alcatel Idol 3 high resolution + 1 Alcatel One Touch watch combo - total worth $400.

WHY UNLOCKED:
That means you can use the phone with MOST major phone carriers.

HOW TO ENTER:
It's EASY.  Leave a comment here with your email & a brief comment telling me why an unlocked phone wold be ideal for you!! #LiveUnlocked

GIVEAWAY ENDS ON:

Movies: The Loft Movie

Hey guys! Are you into movies? My husband I LOVE movies.  He loves action & suspense films, while I prefer horror, suspense & romance, strange combo I know.  For me, my dad got me into watching horror flicks when I was about 7 years old. He enjoyed getting startled by the monster or creepy kid in the films. Go figure.

So today, a NEW film hits the big screen called "The Loft." -  It's a suspense thriller, which I can def get into.  Mat & I are looking forward to seeing this film & seeing how it unravels!  You guys should see it & let us know what you think!  Here's a little synopsis about the film in my own words, then feel free to watch the trailer below for yourself.

The Loft starring Karl Urban & James Marsden , is a suspense thriller about 5 guys sharing a penthouse in the city where they can carry on their most luxurious & sensual fantasties.  It's interesting what could potentially happen when a woman turns up dead in a loft.  The men turn on each other when  they realize that one of them is a killer.  Friendships are torn apart & marriages crumble as you watch human behavior at it's worst.

Official movie trailer here or click below on the video.

You can also get tickets online, which is what Mat & I usually do via Fandango, much, much easier.

Thankfully this is a just a movie and we're just watching it as entertainment and nothing more.
Anyone else going to see this film??

My Review of The Marcel in NYC...

Many of you had asked me about my hotel stay in NYC this past month. Well, I thought I'd write a mini- review about what the experience was like staying at The Marcel at Gramercy.

The minute we arrived we were greeted nicely & they took care of us immediately by showing us around. The lobby was super chic with plenty of room to sit down & relax.

We had a king size bed & a pretty decent room on the 8th floor with a view of 24th street. The staff was super nice & very helpful - so no complaints.

They showed us around & took us the the 10th floor lounge which had an outdoor terrace - amazing!  The inside lounge area was full of windows & very spacious!  Get this, the outdoor terrace had a clear view of the EMPIRE STATE building!

As for the room decor.... it was pretty unique with a super tall headboard & a clean & modern bathroom.

One of my favorite things about the bathroom was it provided enough shelving space for all my toiletries.... which is a must whenever I travel!

All in all, the manager & staff were very pleasant - I would definitely recommend this hotel - but if you're all about having a spacious stay, ask for a KING room!

Our room was 809, but we'll be happy to lend it to you. Ha! Just kidding!!

Are you thinking of visiting NYC anytime soon?? Where will you be staying?
