Made By Girl + Madewell Event NYC

The Madewell event this past weekend went really well! - I loved meeting new people & seeing lots of you who I know just from my Instagram! My artwork was a hit & one of the favorite were the colorful pineapples!  It was such a fantastic experience doing this pop-up shop & was definitely cool walking in & seeing my art displayed in their store!

The collection on display included art from my Made By Girl shop & original paintings from my online gallery, Cocoa & Hearts.

If you have a store & are interested in having me do a similar pop-up shop there, feel free to email me with info!

A Cocoa & Hearts SALE is around the corner - stay tuned!!  If you want to be notified, please sign up to the newsletter here. They tend to sell fast.

My mom was the first one there... she stayed until I was done. Love sharing these moments with her.

Loved my geometric necklace by Kate Scheid from Scheid Industrial & my Leather Pocket T-shirt dress, by Madewell.

My husband below (to the right) busy putting in orders & making sure things are run smoothly. His tee shirt even said 'hubby' - such a cutie.

Jamie from Furbish Studio came by - isn't her hair cool?!

Pineapple Prints Have ARRIVED!

A few weeks ago I launched a series of Pineapple paintings to the Cocoa & Hearts gallery. I have been asked several times if I would be making prints - and so here is the first. An all BLACK pineapple.

This piece of art is perfect for those who weren't able to buy one of the original paintings, but still want the same look & feel in their home! They are 11"x14" and are actually high-quality prints from an original painting I did.  It's pictured below with a brushed gold custom frame - both available now at MadeByGirl.

My Office Gallery Wall + Tips

After months of thinking of whether or not I should do a gallery wall in my office, I have officially taken the plunge. I admit, I was inspired by Michelle Adams & her gorgeous NYC bedroom (last photo) and so that led to removing the large piece I had, & incorporating the gallery wall.  For the wall, I used mostly MADE BY GIRL (my own) pieces & some other random photography.  The figure drawings are by Chance Lee - a fantastic artist from Taiwan that I love ......& Kate Moss, well, it was a gift. All the frames you see below can be purchased via my shop. We have gorgeous shiny gold, matte gold, black matte frames & more!

The Kate Moss gold-corner frame was a DIY project we did, which we'll add onto the blog soon!

If you're looking to install a gallery wall,  here's a good way to start:

/// SELECT ART YOU LIKE ///

I decided to add most of my own art, because it inspires me & reminds me to keep creating. You should be able to know what kind of art you'd enjoy looking at everyday. This wall is in my office so it's a wall I look at pretty much ever single day. So, yes, I will be looking at Kate's face on a daily basis...oh well, she's gorgeous right? I find that mixing word art with photographic ones gives the space a lot of interest. You may want to do something similar or just choose to add personal photos of your family & so on. For me, I'm  not big on personal photos all over our apartment & neither is my husband. We prefer random art over personal shots. We tend to keep those to a minimum. But remember, select art that inspires, makes you smile, and that you love.

/// SELECT YOUR FRAMES ///

MADE BY GIRL offers a variety of gorgeous custom frames. You can order them on their own from my shop or add it to the artwork before checkout. Custom framing looks amazing & is pricier, but if you're on a budget - you can always try IKEA.  They have a variety of sizes for under $200.

/// PLAN IT OUT ///

Think about where you want to place each piece of art.  See what pieces look good next to each other & try not to place all similar colors & styles together. As you can see, both my black prints are away from each other. This creates a more balanced look. Also, the higher you place the gallery on the wall, the taller the space will feel. Drawing a diagram with proper measurements on a piece of paper will really help keep you organized. Feel free to play around with different arrangements, that's what we did. You can cut-out shapes of each frame by using poster board and tape each one onto the wall where you will place the artwork.  This is a great way to move the shapes around & get an idea of what it will look like before committing to anything. Remember, you don't want a bunch of extra holes in the wall. Have fun!

 Ta da! The close-up.

Here's the roundup of most of the art featured on my wall. You can purchase them via MADE BY GIRL

And here is my husband helping put everything up - so sweet!

Cheetah Print Obsessed

I'm sooo fascinated with cheetah prints - I have several items in this pattern. How about you??
Heck, I have leopard print stuff too. Well, I was INSPIRED to create a painting for MADE BY GIRL for the very first time...enter: Sitting Cheetah.

I made this piece freehand with a paint brush - nothing more.  I also got inspired to add some cheetah print items along to get you in the mood for this new print. The Jerome Dreyfuss popoche clutch is one of my faves & I actually got as a gift for my Birthday!!

So, do you like cheetah print?? Would you be daring enough to wear it as a pair of pants??!?  For me, I'd do both!

Speaking of....my friend Ashlina from The Decorista blog was the first to hang the print! So awesome to see it in her office even before it was available for purchase here.  Ashlina also has our Metallic gold love print hanging in her office - you spot it?  LOVE the way she decorated the whole space - so chic, don't you think??

Check out the gorgeous gallery wall - and I also love how she displays her FAITH with a bible scripture on her inspiration board - beautiful.  Where did she buy all her pretty office items you're wondering?!?!?!?

Well, you can get Ashlina's style by visiting her blog here.

Gallery Wall

Welcome back everyone! Hope you're weekend went well.

As for me, I've been putting together a gallery wall in my office for quite sometime now. I managed to sell the art that was here & now I'm adding some of my own.  This blank wall that stand over my desk area needs some art - & fast.  I put together these pieces below but still have a few more to add soon...stay tuned!

Most of the art below is my own- which you can purchase at MADE BY GIRL or Cocoa & Hearts - minus the Kate Moss print, which was a gift!

The lighting is the Meurice floor lamp by Jonathan Adler

This is one of the newest print at MADE BY GIRL - just added today! It's in french "NON & OUI indecis" - English translation is "No & Yes - Undecided" - this print also has a real gold paint swatch across the front.  I like to think it's a mix of MADE BY GIRL & Cocoa & Hearts!  You can buy yours here.

Frames can also be purchased via my shop - this one is the brushed gold frame.
