As some of you already know, Style At Home Magazine one of Canada'smost popular home design mags featured our NYC apartment in their latest issue! It's a Special issue currently in news stands & will be available until March 2013!
It's NOT often that my HUSBAND & I get to be featured in a magazine together, so this was a unique press moment for us both! I CAN'T say I love the picture they chose, but hey, it's us.
I also wanted to show you MORE of our livingroom - the parts that didn't get featured in the issue. It's been a CHALLENGE in a half decorating & living in a 1000 sq ft apartment, especially after living in a much larger home prior!
You may recognize a few pieces from our old place, I managed to SQUEEZE them into our current apt. What do you think so far??
The marble table above is from CB2 - however I thought it would look better with the legs painted GOLD. So, that's what they look like. The before was a light wood color. Similar style here.
The lamp below is by Jonathan Adler - It's the Meurice floor lamp & it's the most amazing lamp ever. It has a dimmer as well and a unique design on the inside of the drum. It comes in white as well!
The velvety black regency pillows on my sofa are by Jill Sorensen.
One of my favorite bible scriptures framed in the living room - from Matthew 6:33
The lamp above I purchased at a vintage shop here in NYC- I actually joined a live auction to bid on it- then won! The print "Cougar Friends" I got online - click here then search for "cougar".
Gold skull candle - by DL & Co.
Gorgeous vintage white cross from Australia - shipped to me from Claudia over at Peep My Style.
All photos minus the 2 bottom ones are by Janis Nicolay.
Also, BIG thanks to Danielle from Urban Walls & Myrna over at For the Love of Black blog for sending some mags my way!
Enjoy your weekend!!!
Light bright and beautiful! What a gorgeous home that you've created for your hubby and you! I love every inch.

Stop. It!! I love it! So clean and simple, but totally chic! I'm so happy you kept the floating cabinets. I'm still planning on incorporating that in my home, too. Odd question: do you know the size of the print and the frame hanging above the floating cabinets??

ReplyDeleteJen, your apartment looks beautiful. Can I ask you where you got the curtain rod that the black curtains are hanging from? I have build outs over every window in my apartment and never thought I could have drapes, but your rod would work for me. Thank you and congrats on the magazine feature.

Your apt is AMAZING ! At least you have 1000 sq feet AND light ! Looks like you have high ceilings too and a balcony .. Heaven on the Upper East Side !
ReplyDeleteI live on the Upper East Side as well and mine is only 700 sq ft ( including common area ;p) and dark ! I have 2 of your small paintings and a big one and my apartment isn't doing them any justice ;p
You're apartment is so glam and cozy! i new it from the very start that it would look like one! You're superb and so stylish! I love every bits and details of it. thanks for sharing.

It's stunning....love how bright and airy it is. The large cross IS gorgeous. ok so I have to ask...you have a white sofa AND an adorable pooch that I am sure loves to use it as a bed (as seen from you previous post about your week). How do you do it to keep the sofa clean? wash him weekly? clean his paws after every single walk? or do you just not care? I want a white couch so bad, but with 2 dogs I think I will freak out.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful apartment! I love the small details in an otherwise white apartment that make all the difference! Also, those are some amazing paintings!

ReplyDeletehey jen! I have a question, how do you manage with the doggys in such a small apartment and the dog hair and white furniture? I have a white couch (leather) and i have a hard time trying to keep THAT clean! Ahh, helP!!

ReplyDeleteCANNY COLE: My dog never used to get on the sofa until we moved to NYC. Now having only one dog, i just gave in & let her on the sofa. However i usually just keep it covered with a white sheet...
ReplyDeleteBUT the key to keeping it (mostly) clean is to wipe your dog's feet every time they come in from outside. Hate to say it, but we do this every time, makes a BIG difference. As for dog hair, that is still a problem..we just use a tape roll and tape the hair off the sofa by having it stick to the tape. Or i just change the sheets every week.
Unfortunately i realized i wont be able to truly enjoy the sofa until my dog is no longer with us.
Hope this helps!
CANNY COLE: P.S. I dont keep the sofa uncovered all the time, it was mostly just for the photo shoot. :) BTW- you're lucky, leather is much easier to clean.
ReplyDeleteDearest Jen. This house is so much you, elegant, classy, chic, airy and bright! I love the gold details and your paintings in contrast with the black and white! Perfection! Still believe one day I'm going to have one of those in big size! Cheers from Portugal
