Here is where we're at:
The tile guy is installing the BACK SPLASH as we speak, we chose a honed 3x6 Carrara Marble that we purchased at Home Depot. I'm not sure how it will hold up, but I'm told it DOES have to be SEALED after installed.
I'm crossing my fingers that all will look nice in the end! The cabinets MAY look yellowish because the overhead lights are on, but TRUST ME they're white....Now, the HARDWARE should be here today, so that will be installed soon as well!

Good luck, I can't wait to see the carrera!
ReplyDeletePROGRESS! Best christmas gift ever, huh?!
ReplyDeleteMake sure you make it crystal clear exactly where you want your hardware to go on the cabinet...our installers put ours in before we had a chance to clarify. It turned out fine but it was still a little unsettling at first when we saw it!

It's looking GREAT so far! Did you have them spray the insides of your cabinets too or are those still brown/wood?
ReplyDeletekitchen is looking amazing, Jen! you must be so excited to cook in your beautiful new space!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic! So looking forward to seeing the final result.
ReplyDeleteThis is so exciting! I think the carrara marble subway tiles will look great! We tiled our fireplace recently with long strips of carrara marble from the floor to the ceiling and I love it BUT it definitely a good idea to watch EVERYTHING... our tile guy dripped grout all over our living room and it was a disaster to clean up!
ReplyDeleteI'm assuming that the painters came back and fixed the chipping paint successfully??
Looking fabulous!
ReplyDeleteYeiiii it is getting there, that is great! Ihope it will more smooth from now on. Good thing you are keeping an eye on the crew, that always seems to work! I have no tips since I only lived in rentals and gosh I only wish I could redesign a kitchen, so good luck!
ReplyDeleteCAITLIN: Thanks! The inside of the boxes are still the wood color, however the doors are entirely white back and front. I didn't want the boxes sprayed inside... :)
ReplyDeleteKATIE: The painters only replaced the bottoms of the kick boards with actual wood boards..they were melamine before. They look fine so far. However, they didnt replace the bathroom kick boards, which were sprayed the same way & are now chipping. It's so frustrating!! I told them im not paying the remaining balance until the kick boards are switched out like the ones in the kitchen. So now they are working on a schedule to come over....and it continues...ugh.
ReplyDeleteso exciting. i am loving your home updates. :)
ReplyDeleteWe just put in carrera for our kitchen floors. LOVE it! It'll go great with your white cabinets. I promise
ReplyDeleteOkay really having to control my jealousy here! It looks AMAZING! I am so excited for you!
ReplyDeleteBTW I saw the cutest tray today at Home Goods (like the Madero tray you have featured) I really wanted to get it for you! Only $30!
Luvs!
I can see the progress in your kitchen, it´s going to be as pretty as your inspiration pictures you posted about before for sure!
ReplyDeleteLEAH: aww thanks! you're so sweet! OOOh does the tray have the little horns as well?? If so let me know..
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is looking so good! One tip about marble: it can stain pretty easily (rusty things are a killer) so keep up with the maintenance of the sealer and wipe off any spills right away (Wouldn't think it would be an issue for a vertical surface but I get tomato soup on my backsplash everytime. I don't know how). Looking forward to seeing the room when its all done!
ReplyDeleteStunning. I love watching it all come together.
ReplyDeleteYa it did have the horns! So chic!
ReplyDeleteAwww i wonder if they have it at my home goods!! If you see it again, take a pic pretty please?
ReplyDeleteLove the backsplash...such a classic look! We have handmade white subway tile in ours and I love it!
ReplyDeleteXOXO
Katie
Jen, Your kitchen is going to be gorgeous! How exciting! Here's hoping it will be finished for Christmas!
ReplyDeleteWish I could paint my kitchen white {but I don't think that landlords would appreciate it}
Have a wonderful weekend:)
So fresh, I love the cabinets!
ReplyDeleteWow! The white really makes a difference in your kitchen...it is gorg!! Can't wait to see it with the marble!
ReplyDeleteIts looking so good already. cant wait to see the finished result.
ReplyDeleteThe cabinets look great...I think I know what tile you're using..I've spied the same tile at Home Depot..since I too plan on installing it in my kitchen after, I finish my landscaping. I purchased my home over 7 yrs. ago, and so far I've invested over 50K; so I know exactly what you're going through. At times it is nerve racking, but the rewards are worth it by far.
ReplyDeleteYay! Progress! Before you know it, it'll all be completed and you'll be posting pictures a completed kitchen! Looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see tile, bet it will look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWe usually line hardware up with the bottom of the pull starting at the frame... but I can't remember if you decided on pulls or knobs. Good thing you are able to be there and watch.
Exciting!! Your cabs look fabulous. We used Delorean gray grout (from Home Depot I think) for our kitchen backsplash. Not sure if you're looking for a lighter grout color, but it's a gray that really pops w/ the grey veins in the carrara:

That backsplash is going to be amazing! You gotta keep your eye on 'em! Gorgeous stool to be sitting on:) We have carrara counters, but plain white backsplash. I keep a big cutting board on my island so the marble doesn't get too beat up.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the finished product!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh this is exciting!!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks perfect! The white color compliments the floor wonderfully! Hope you post the final result soon.
ReplyDeleteIt looks pretty gorgeous, but i would suggest you to use the kitchen stools to add the extravagant look in your kitchen.
