I've never been in a tabloid style magazine, but I know so many people read them. I love to open them when I'm waiting in line at the supermarket, mostly to see what celebs are wearing. I can't help it, I LOVE fashion! This time I opened it & there I was, part of the "Top 10 Custom Shopping Sites" for best art! I was aware I was going to be in the next issue, but I was so busy this weekend, I totally forgot. Thank you to Life & Style Weekly for having MadeByGirl in your issue.
Wow - congrats - what an honor!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!! That's wonderful :)

ReplyDeleteCongratulations... that is so awesome! I love those prints of yours, by the way. Too adorable for words.
ReplyDeleteHola Jennifer!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I always read your blog. I love it because you never over post and each post has enough to keep my mind processing until you post again. I wanted to know if you have a good tip for PR. Do you contact magazines yourself or do you hire a PR firm so they can do the work. I worked with a PR firm before but they never guaranty results!. My sister and I will love any advise from you.
Love your work

ReplyDeleteHow exciting :) Congrats! You inspire me in so many ways.
ReplyDeleteHi Dariana,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words about my work and blog! : ) I have NEVER hired a PR firm, and although I'm not against it, I don't think being a small business that is smart move for me right now. Unless you are small but have plenty of capital stored away, then you could try. But you are right when you said they do NOT guarantee anything. In my opinion the only thing that guarantees anything is how much work and effort YOU put into your biz. That will get good results. You need enough results to keep you going but don't get comfortable when you are in your first magazine....YOU have to keep putting out new designs and contacting blogs so they can post our work etc. I have found that linking up with other blogs is a great way to bring in potential customers. I think your work is great, you just need to put a plan together and really be careful how you spend your money. I have only spent $225 on one ad on a blog and that really didnt get me any results so I haven't done it since.
You learn from your mistakes and realize slowly what works and what doesn't. Stick to what works.
Hope this helps...good luck!
